“Hey, little sis.”
I jerked my head up, surprised to see John walking toward me. Blaze squeezed my hand when I looked over at him. “Go spend the day with him,” he told me.
“You did this?”
He shook his head. “Jonah and I both decided today would be a good day for you and John to spend some time together. I just asked him to meet us here instead of picking you up from home.”
I jerked to a halt and then turned, wrapping my arms tightly around him. He leaned down and kissed me, his tongue dancing with mine for a moment. “Call me if you need me,” he ordered when I released him.
“I will,” I promised.
He watched as I walked toward my brother. John wrapped me up in a tight hug. Tears instantly burned in my eyes. “Come on,” he said, leading me to his car. “Let’s go get some ice cream, and then we can chill at my place and watch all the Scream movies. Sound good?”
I nodded. It sounded like the perfect day to be able to forget about the shit in my head.
After grabbing a big tub of cookies and cream ice cream from the grocery store down the street from John’s house, he headed to his place, rock music playing from the speakers loud enough to drown out my thoughts.
“I might fall asleep,” I warned him as he held the front door open for me to walk in ahead of him.
He snorted. “A nap doesn’t sound half fucking bad.”
I rolled my eyes at him and plopped down onto his couch. “You’re such an old man,” I teased.
He just shrugged and turned on his TV, pulling up the app that had all the Scream movies before heading into the kitchen. He came back with a spoon and popped open the ice cream container.
“Dig in, he ordered, handing me the spoon.
I snorted but did as he said. He took a seat at the other end of the couch and propped his feet up on the coffee table, starting the very first movie. I ate way more ice cream than was healthy, and without a word, John took the container to put it in the freezer. I grabbed a blanket off the back of the couch and wrapped myself up on it, laying down and curling into a ball afterward.
“You know I always had a thing for Ghostface?” I asked my brother.
He snorted. “Doesn’t fucking surprise me. You did fall for a man that stabbed you, Montana.”
I just grinned. That was very true. Guess I always had a thing for the psychopaths.

I couldn’t sleep. Both of my men were asleep next to me, both of them touching me somehow, but my mind was whirring, not shutting up.
Was I making the right decision?
Was I doing the right thing by this baby?
Was I being selfish by not trying to be a mother first?
Tears burned in my eyes, my heart racing in my chest. Maybe I needed to call the adoption agency in the morning and stop this process.
“Blaze,” my voice trembled. I needed help. I was panicking. I sucked in a deep breath, but my lungs were constricted, making it hurt. I whimpered.
“Hey, hey,” Blaze soothed, his voice husky with sleep. He pulled me to him, holding me. I felt Jonah move closer to me, the two of them sandwiching me between them. “Deep breaths, sweetheart. I know it hurts, but I need you to breathe.”
I sobbed, trying to breathe past the pain in my lungs and my chest. Jonah peppered kisses to my shoulders and back, both of them holding me.
“I’m so scared I’m making the wrong decision,” I croaked, hiccupping afterward.
“You’re not,” Blaze assured me. “You’re doing what you think is best. Just breathe. It’s okay. We’ve got you.”
Jonah flattened his palm over my chest where my heart was racing. I focused on the heat radiating from his palm and used it to ground myself. Eventually, the tightness around my lungs and in my chest eased, and I breathed a little easier.
“There you go,” Jonah whispered, pressing a kiss to my neck. “Good girl. So good, baby girl.”
I sniffled. “Hold me?” I asked, my voice barely audible to my own ears. But they heard me.
Somehow, they moved in even closer, their arms tightening around me, holding me together. I shut my eyes. “Can someone talk to make my head shut up?” I asked.
Blaze rested his chin on the top of my head, but it was Jonah who spoke. “Once upon a time, there was a stubborn woman that thought she didn’t need anyone,” he quietly began.
My lips curved up a little at the corners, and I let my eyes fall shut, falling asleep to the sound of him telling our part of this love story.
Tinsley smiled at me, just like she always did, even if I didn’t smile back at her. “Come on,” she said, leading me to her office. “You look like you have a lot on your chest.”
