I yawned again and leaned my head back against the headrest, my eyes sliding shut. I heard the loud rumble of Jonah’s car when he started it.
“Is Jonah meeting us at your place?” I sleepily asked.
“Yeah. He’s gonna stop by his place and grab some things first, and then he’ll be over. You okay with sharing a bed with both of us for the first time tonight?”
I nodded, yawning again. I needed to stop hiding so much. These men weren’t going anywhere. They were proving that day in and day out, and it was time I started giving the same kind of effort.
Blaze pressed his lips to mine. “Do not leave John’s side, you hear me?”
I rolled my eyes. “You act as if I didn’t use to spar in this ring.”
He narrowed his eyes at me. “You also weren’t mine before.” He shucked his knuckle against my chin. “Listen and stay by your brother, or I’ll paint your pretty ass red,” he promised.
A tingle started in my core. The last time I’d tested him, he’d actually fucking done it. And it had hurt like hell, but I was supposed to be working on healthy coping mechanisms, and pain was a coping strategy Tinsley wanted me to steer away from.
So, instead of antagonizing him further, I just nodded. He pressed his lips to mine again. “Good girl.”
He disappeared into the crowd like smoke. John knocked his shoulder against mine. “Jonah said you looked exhausted as fuck after your appointment. How’d it go?”
I shrugged. “It was fine.” I wasn’t lying. Mentally, it had been exhausting, but it had gone well.
John looked over at me, and after scanning my face for a moment, he nodded, taking my word for it. The crowd started cheering, and then my man stepped into the ring, his shirt off, a pair of sweats riding low on his hips. Jonah flashed me a grin, pressed two fingers to his lips, and then held them up to me.
His opponent was a new guy, but he was big as fuck. But I knew Jonah would have speed on his side. The fight didn’t last long, and once it was over, I had John walk me over to the warehouse next to us where a bathroom should have been located at.
“I’m gonna go piss, too. Meet you back out here,” John told me.
I nodded, waving him away before I dipped inside the bathrooms. I made a mental note to thank Blaze for making sure they were clean. He didn’t use to care about this kind of shit, but I was guessing now that I was his, he wanted anything I touched to be as clean as possible.
I sure as fuck would never complain about those perks.
I was washing my hands when the door opened behind me. I looked up in the mirror, dread curling in my stomach at the sight of Jayden. I hadn’t seen him since that day he’d had a run-in with Blaze. I thought he’d been banned.
“The fuck are you doing here?” I bit out.
He didn’t say a word. I lurched to the side to get the hell out of his way, but he was faster, and I was out of practice. He slammed my face against the mirror, breaking it. Glass cut into my cheek. I spewed out a string of curse words, driving my elbow up into his stomach before swinging around and punching him in the face.
His hands wrapped around my throat, and he shoved me back against the shattered mirror again, cutting off my airflow and lifting my feet off the ground. “Not so big and bad when Blaze isn’t here to take care of you, are you?” he hissed.
I laughed. “He’ll kill you,” I wheezed. He’d killed for me before. Jayden would be nothing. And the dark part of me was eager to see Jayden permanently gone.
Voices reached our ears, and Jayden quickly released me, disappearing back out of the door again. I coughed and spluttered, sucking air into my lungs. The door slammed open, and Blaze was standing there, John right beside him.
“Who the fuck—!“ Blaze roared, storming over to me.
John wet a paper towel and began to dab at my cheek. I flinched away from him. “Stay still,” he growled.
“Who the fuck touched you, Montana?” Blaze growled at me.
“Jayden,” I said at the same time Jonah barged into the bathroom, a murderous look in his eyes. It was a look I hadn’t seen on him before, and suddenly, he looked as cold and dangerous as Blaze usually did.
I couldn’t even say anything to him before he spun around on his heel, storming off again. I looked at Blaze. “Go get him,” I begged.
Blaze shook his head. “I can place money on it he’s going after Jayden, and like fuck am I stopping him.” Blaze gripped my arm. “But us—we’re fucking leaving. And we’re getting your ass to fucking Matthew so he can get you cleaned up.”
