“Two o'clock,” Kane says from beside me.
“I know.” I spotted those two fuckers that have been inching their way to the edge of the dance floor. They’re both in jeans and polo shirts and are holding bottles of beer. I’ve never seen them before. “You know them?”
“Nope.” I glance over to Jason and Arch, who are watching the dance floor now too. I whistle, drawing Jason's attention to me.
He shakes his head no, letting me know he doesn’t know these two clowns. This isn’t a real bar. Not just anyone can walk through the doors. Hell, all the booze is free. The only reason Jason keeps bartenders on staff is to make things easier to manage. You have to know someone and be invited. It’s not too often people try to sneak in.
You’d have to be pretty damn stupid to sneak into a place like this. It might be tamer than it used to be, but it’s still an MC club at the end of the day. Plus, there are always prospects manning the door.
“They’re watching her.” Both of them have their eyes trained on my Bunny. Every protective instinct I have rises up in me. Are they staring at her because she’s the hottest girl on the dance floor or because they know who she is? They don’t scream money, so I’m pretty sure neither one of them is the buyer looking for her. Doesn’t mean they weren't hired to track her down and bring her back to the asshole who purchased her.
The one in the white polo shirt moves onto the dance floor toward her. “I want to talk to both of them,” I say before I take off toward my girl. He’s all up on her when I make it over to them. He reaches out to grab her hips, I’m sure to pull her into him to try to dance, but he never makes contact. I grab him and yank him by the back of the shirt. I swear I want to break this motherfucker’s arm for even thinking he had the right to touch my girl, but I get myself under control. I don’t want Bunny to get frightened. She’s been through enough.
I release my hold on his shirt, tossing him backward. People jump out of the way as he goes flying. He hits the ground and slides a few more feet across the floor. His friend stands wide-eyed for a second before he tries to turn and run, but he doesn’t make it anywhere. Kane is on him in a blink of an eye. White polo shirt guy starts to scramble backwards as I stalk toward him. His face is pale. I’m sure it’s due to the murderous look I have on my own.
“Benny.” A hand comes down on my arm, stopping me in my tracks. I glance down at Bunny, who is at my side. “What’s going on?” Her eyes are wide and a little glassy from the alcohol. “Did you get jealous over me?” A smile plays on her lips.
“I get jealous of Buttons and Dino when it comes to you. You think I’m not going to get pissed if some fucker tries to grab you?” She lets out a giggle, not the least bit bothered by my behavior.
“If you're so jealous over me, then why am I still a virgin?” I stare down at her, not sure how the fuck to respond to that.
“Yeah, Benny. Why aren’t you giving it up?” Pink smirks. For a second, I almost forget about the other two assholes.
“Hey, only I call him Benny.” Bunny’s face scrunches.
“Right, Ben.” Pink fights a laugh.
“Are you going to answer us?” Bunny wobbles on her feet. I wrap my arm around her waist to stabilize her. “You don’t want me?”
“How could you even say that?” I tuck her hair behind her ear. As much as I want to handle these two dipshits, Bunny needs me more.
“I don’t know.” She shrugs, melting into my side. I think it’s time to head home.
“I’ve got this,” Kane tells me. I glance over at the two men. “I’ll find out why they’re here. I promise you that. I’ll update you shortly if you need to come back.” I nod my head in agreement, knowing that Kane will get to the bottom of who those two assholes are and why they’re here.
“Come back where?” Bunny asks, catching part of the conversation but not all.
“We’ll come back next weekend if you want. I think it’s time to head home.” I reach down and sweep her up into my arms. She rests her head on my shoulder. I relax immediately, knowing she’s where she belongs.
“I think I’m a lightweight when it comes to drinking.” She giggles as I carry her out of the warehouse.
“Did you have fun?” I open the truck door and sit her inside.
