I just hoped all of the rope was enough to keep the Boto Brothers in line.

Next, Fatou dressed, putting on a black body suit, armed with straps of her needles on her thighs and arms. No caps covered those fangs. She pulled her dreadlocks up into a ponytail and then braided it.

Fatou was a deadly creature to behold, and the vision triggered my cock to go stiff.

She caught me watching. “Why are you naked and stroking your length?”

“You look so sexy.”

“Put your clothes back on, Azar. We have a mission.”

Groaning, I ordered my leather to come. Straps slipped up my ankles, calves, and thighs. Soon the straps melted together and clung to my muscular legs.

Then, I called my sword.

It materialized in my right hand. The blade gleamed in the sunlight coming through the windows. Carved runes adorned the pale blade. A coiled snake with ruby eyes and greenish-gold scales formed the handle.

Fatou walked over and studied it. “This is what you had against Ferkos's throat?”

“It is.” I turned the blade so that she could get a better look. “This is Soul-Breaker.”

“That's quite a name.”

“It's quite a sword.”

“Where did you get?”

I let out a long breath. “My first wife was a powerful witch. This was over a hundred and fifty years ago. I was a young demon. Still with a tail and leathery wings. She became pregnant and I decided to make her mine.”

Fatou widened her eyes.

“And then. . .our son passed. He was only three days old. Surprisingly, she was relieved.”

“And you?”

“Devastated.” I thought of his tiny face and shook the memory away. “To cheer me up, she crystalized his spine and formed it into an enchanted blade. For these modern times, it sounds odd. Her intentions were good. She gave me parts of our son, so that he would always be with me.”

“I'm so sorry for your loss.”

“That was many many moons ago and I've lost many more children since then.” I cleared my throat. “Regardless, all things hold magic, especially blood and bones.”

“I. . .I didn't know a witch could turn a spine into a sword.”

“It's Death Magic. She wasn't supposed to mingle with it at all, and definitely had been forbidden to have sex with a demon. When her coven learned of everything, they waited for me to go hunting one night and killed her.” I glared at the blade. “On the next night, their blood stained my sword.”

Fatou whispered to herself, “Soul-Breaker.”

“Let's go.” I headed off.

Fatou called back. “I think you should put on a shirt and maybe put the sword up. More humans are out in the day.”

“They’ll have to deal with the sight of me.” I called a vest to my chest.

By the time we hit the lobby, my crystal sword dangled at my side, sheathed in an antique scabbard of blue leather.

We left the hotel.

A taxi stopped right in front.

The driver eyed us suspiciously when we climbed in.

I gave him the address.

Fatou leaned my way and kept her voice low. “You told me before that you used to hunt with the Boto Brothers.”

“We did for a few years, but I would rather be like a lone wolf and stay to myself.”

“But what do you know about the Boto Brothers?”

“They're sloppy with their hunting, so much that they're legends about them throughout Brazil.”

“Legends?”

“There is an Amazon River dolphin called the Boto Cor-de-Rosa. It is one of the unique wild animals of Brazil and the largest of the river dolphin species.”

“I've never heard of it.”

“Well, it is a remarkable animal. The dolphin transforms from grey to pink as it ages.”

Fatou quirked her brows. “But what does that have to do with the Boto Brothers?”

“For Brazilian folklore, Boto Cor-de-Rosa is a magical creature that is able to take the form of a handsome man late at night.”

Fatou smiled. “Very interesting.”

“The dolphin's human figure is very charming and seductive. He goes to parties in search of beautiful, unaccompanied, young women. The legend also has him dressing in a white suit.”

“Do the Boto Brothers like white suits?”

“Ungodly ugly white suits and horrible looking white hats too.” I rolled my eyes. “The legend explains that, the Boto then seduces village girls and takes them to the bottom of the river to impregnate them.”

“Okay. This is crazy.”

“Even crazier, Indigenous people believe the blowhole of the Amazon River dolphin does not disappear while Boto is in its human form. Therefore, he needs to wear a hat to hide it.”

“So. . .is any of this close to true?”

“The Boto Brothers can shift into dolphins, but not pink ones. They're dark red and ugly.”

“Why are they able to shift?”

“Apparently, the Fallen Angel that bit them had some power to create sea creatures.”

“So they were bitten?”

I nodded.

“And. . .do the Boto Brothers impregnate females?”

“They try their best, but as far as I know none of their children have ever survived.” I shrugged. “However, the popular belief around the Amazon area says that a child whose father is unknown is the child of the Boto.”
