“There’s also talk that you guys have been engaged for the last year since you wrapped up Say You Love Me. Is that true?”

We locked eyes, grinning.

Bailey grabbed my hand. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

With that, she turned, and I followed suit.

“They’re going to have a field day with your response.”

“Eh,” she muttered. “I’m not too concerned about it.”

A lot had changed in the last year, but our love for each other only grew stronger. For the most part, we spent these last twelve months making up for lost time. We spent most of our days in Oak Island, where there wasn’t press and paparazzi hounding us at all hours.

It was nice to escape and live what could only be described as a semi-normal life. We were still recognized everywhere we went, but since it was a small beach town, people were respectful. Not to mention, Bailey’s family was well known in the area. She was used to being talked about.

I was right about her family. They truly were amazing people, and slowly but surely, I think I was winning her grandpa and uncle Luke over. However, the women in her family loved me, which wasn’t a surprise. Women usually did.

Now as far as us being engaged, I guess you could say in our minds, we were already committed to one another in a marriage kind of way, so I was simply waiting for the perfect time to pop the real question. In the meantime, we continued to play house, and I’d be lying if I said I couldn’t see her take my last name.

Her family stepped up and became a significant part of my life. One that replaced my own family’s love. My mom did reach out to me more than she ever had before, so maybe with time, I could let her into my life. For now, I was good with where we were at. My old man, on the other hand, he could fuck himself.

All in all, life couldn’t be better, and I owed it all to…

Bailey Pierce-McGraw.

Soon-to-be Mrs. Aires.

Bailey

“Oh my God!” I fell back into Aires’s arms on the couch in our LA home. “My feet are killing me.”

“I told you not to wear those fuck-me heels to the premiere.”

“But then you wouldn’t have wanted to fuck me?”

“Bay.” He kissed the top of my head. “We both know I’d love to spend all day inside of you and have many times.”

I giggled.

He was right.

Aires was everything I wanted and didn’t think I could. I was beyond grateful we were in this place that I’d never been happier in. We were what dreams were made of.

As for Robert, he really was done. My team made sure of it. They all supported me and made sure that they ended him in whatever way they could. My family was ecstatic that I was around more, and I loved it just as much as they did. It was like getting a second chance at life and making lasting memories with the people who meant the most to me.

Life was precious, and I spent most of mine working it away.

My team didn’t push me to get back into the swing of things. They kept saying that I deserved all the time off I wanted.

I was putting my love life first.

I was putting my family first.

I was putting myself first.

End of story.

And no one had one problem with it.

“You looked good enough to eat all night.”

I giggled again. “Is that why you tried to eat me in the bathroom of the theater?”

He laughed. “I just wanted to help you with your dress.”

“You mean by trying to take it off?”

“How else were you going to use the bathroom?”

I spun, sitting on his waist. “Have I told you how much I love you today?”

“Who cares? Tell me again.”

I leaned to kiss him when a breaking news alert suddenly sounded on our TV screen. We both immediately turned, thinking it had something to do with us. Grabbing the remote off the coffee table, I turned up the volume.

“This is Silvia Smith, reporting live from downtown New York.”

I swallowed hard.

My stomach in knots.

“I’m being told that son of the notorious reformed outlaw, Creed Jameson. Luke Jameson, known to the world as Filthy Mogul.”

I never in a million years expected what she shared next…

Not for one second.

“Has been shot and is in critical condition.”
