Liam brushed back some hair that had blown into my face.

“You’re my hero.” His words, thick with emotion, were said with pride shining in his eyes.

Liam

As I walked in the front entrance of Devil’s with the mail in my hand, my thoughts were on our doctor’s appointment yesterday. I’d been able to schedule some fancy-ass ultrasound that cost extra, where we could see our little guy better. He looked so much like his momma, and it made me smile.

Tex was directing a liquor delivery, and some of the new girls were working with the head of our entertainers, Divinity. Her real name was actually Melba, but if anyone called her that, she’d shove a fork in their eye.

Liberty came walking around the corner with an iPad in her hands. I stopped just to watch her. I loved having her here, and she had my files so damn organized that we’d ended up saving money on supplies for the past two months.

“Tex, what is this bill?” she asked, showing him. “It’s not one I’m familiar with. It looks like paper products, but why are we buying from two distributers?”

I watched my enforcer frown. “Not sure.”

“Okay, I’ll call.” She still hadn’t spotted me when she turned to tap away on that iPad I’d gotten her so she could be mobile while doing her filing and organizing.

One of the new girls walked by and stopped when she noticed Liberty’s round stomach. It was fucking adorable on her. It was difficult not touching it all the time. She was always laughing and swatting my hands away while we were working.

“Uh, so did we decide to add a kink to the show?” the girl asked with an amused smirk.

Liberty looked up from the iPad. I started in that direction, ready to fire the girl before she said another word.

“Oh, no,” Liberty told her with a smile. “I only get naked for one man. Run along now and get back to work.”

A grin spread across my face, and I slid one hand behind her, then covered her stomach with my other one. Liberty tilted her head back. Those honey eyes went soft as she gazed up at me lovingly. I pressed a kiss to her lips, then cut my eyes at the new dancer.

“I see you’ve met my queen,” I drawled.

The girl’s eyes widened, and she looked back at Divinity nervously before turning back to me.

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t know she was …” She paused, not sure what to call her.

“Mine,” I supplied.

The girl nodded, then dropped her gaze to Liberty. “I didn’t mean anything by it,” she said. “You’re pregnant, but you look like that, so I figured you were a dancer. The whole fantasy vibe, you know. Hot, sexy pregnant woman.”

Liberty laughed, and I tightened my hold on her. I loved that sound.

“Thanks, I think.”

The girl nodded.

“This sexy pregnant woman is my fantasy only.”

“Yes, sir,” she muttered, then hurried away.

Liberty turned in my arms, and I took the iPad from her, then placed it on the bar so I could have her closer before kissing her mouth the way I wanted to. She sighed and leaned into me the best she could with our son between us. I felt the kick just as her tongue flicked against mine.

She chuckled and leaned back. “He’s aggressive. Doesn’t like to share.”

I placed a hand over her to feel him kicking and moving around inside. “He looks just like you, so guess he’s gonna act like me.”

“Yeah,” she agreed. “Maybe he could switch the two before he’s born.”

Tex placed a bottle of tequila on the bar across from us. “Nah, you’re a helluva lot prettier than his ugly mug, and the world needs another Liam running around. Judgment’s gotta have another Prez when this one gets old.”

Liberty turned her eyes back to me.

Fate was a funny thing. Life threw you a lot of bad shit, testing you, seeing just what you could survive. Then, when you thought that was all there was on the road you were meant to walk, fate tossed you the gold medal for surviving so long. You just had to keep walking it and hope you didn’t fuck it up when your prize was handed out.

Liberty

“You got this, darlin’. Just push one more time,” Liam said, holding my hand beside me while my nails bit into his flesh.

“If you say that again, I’m going to hit you with the closest thing I can reach,” I warned him through clenched teeth.

He grinned, then winked at me. That wasn’t gonna work this time. Not when my body was being split in two.

“He’s right; just one more push,” the doctor encouraged.

She’d better watch it, or I was gonna hit her too. I had been pushing for an hour.

“Think about his little face,” Liam whispered close to my ear.
