“I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this…” I unbutton the white shirt I wore to the show slowly. I shed the tie and jacket at the party earlier. Sid’s eyes dilate, and she bites her lip when I let the shirt fall off my shoulders and to the ground.

Her eyes always immediately fly to my stomach.

She has a thing for abs. No pressure or anything.

“Mentioned what?” she asks.

“You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life.” My pants follow the shirt, and I walk to the edge of the bed and reach for her soft foot. “Everything about you turns me on. Your sweetness, your love for everyone around you… The way you can sing like a goddamn angel.”

I kiss the arch of her foot and then the ball of her ankle.

“These legs are a gift from heaven above.”

“That could be a line in a song.” She gasps when I kiss the inside of her knee. “You have a really good mouth on you.”

“All the better to kiss you with.”

I leave hot, wet kisses on the inside of her thigh, inching higher and higher.

“What else do you love about me?”

That makes me pause and kiss the crease where her leg meets her center. “The smell of your skin. The smell of your pussy.”

Leaning in, I lick her from bottom to top, and she squirms on the mattress; her fingers dive into my hair, and she holds on tight.

“I love every curve on your body. Every line. Every dimple and dent. Even this scar right here.”

I brush my finger over a white line on her hip.

“Stabbed myself when I fell off my bike as a kid.”

“Ouch.” Pushing myself higher, I lick that healed wound. “And when you look at me with those hot blue eyes, the way you are now? It makes me fucking crazy.”

“How am I looking at you?”

“Like I hung the moon, and you want to fuck me until I pass out.”

She nods. “Yeah, that’s accurate.”

“I also love that I don’t know everything. That I get to learn more about you, and I have all the time in the world to do it.”

“You know why?” she asks with a satisfied smile as I continue kissing my way up her body. I drag my tongue along her collarbone and then settle between her legs and brush my nose over hers.

“Why?”

“Because you’re gonna marry me.”

“Damn right, I am.”

“Is that your only garage?” I ask as I point to the attached two-car space at her house in Nashville. We just arrived, and I met her driver, who picked us up from the airport and brought us here. He gave me the stink eye, but by the time we got out of the car, I won him over.

I’m glad to know that Sid has people who look out for her.

“Yeah, but it’s pretty much empty if you want to take it over.”

I nod, my mind already whirling. Sidney’s house is nice and on the outskirts of the city with lots of trees that make it feel private.

“Whose car?” I ask her as I follow her to the front door.

“It’s Wendy’s.” She smiles back at me, clearly happy to be here. I can tell that she loves this place, and I can see why. It’s really nice. Sid opens the door and calls out, “We’re here!”

“Oh, I’m so happy you’re home.”

A tall, slender woman with brown hair and a sweet smile hurries from the back of the house and immediately wraps Sidney in a big hug. Her eyes find mine over Sid’s shoulder, and she winks.

“This is him.”

“Wendy, I’d like to introduce you to Keaton Williams. My fiancé.”

“Your fiancé,” Wendy echoes with a grin. “Well, get over here. I’m a hugger, sugar.”

Her southern accent is sweet, and she pulls me in for a motherly hug, then pulls back and frames my face in her hands. “I know this face. Why do I know this face?”

“He looks a lot like his dad,” Sidney says. “Luke. Luke Williams.”

I pause. This has always been my life, being introduced as my father’s son. I’m not as angry about it as I was when I was a teenager, but it’s still not my favorite thing.

My eyes narrow, and Sidney raises an eyebrow.

“Oh, yes, I see it,” Wendy continues. “I enjoy your father’s work very much. But I have to say, I’m a bigger fan of yours, since you clearly make my girl so happy. Welcome home, both of you. I have some food in the kitchen, and everything is clean and fresh for you. I’ll head out so you can enjoy some alone time and settle in.”

Wendy winks at Sid.

“He’s a hottie. Good going, honey.”

And with that, she leaves out the back door.

“Why did you look mad when I told her who your dad is?”

I shake my head, but she grabs my hand and squeezes. “No, really. That obviously pissed you off.”
