Holy fucking shitballs.

“Marry me,” he says. “I love you so much, and we can make anything work. Be mine forever.”

I cover my mouth as the applause explodes all over again, and then I hug him and plant my lips next to his ear.

“Of course, I’ll marry you! Holy shit, this was a big step for you.”

“Yeah, well, don’t get too used to these grand gestures because I’m shaking like a leaf. But I’m going to try, Sid. For you.”

He kisses me hard, and then we hurry off the stage so the rest of the show can continue.

“So much for being ahead,” I hear the producer say, but I don’t care. I can’t stop grinning.

“You have so much to tell me.” I glance down at the ring on my finger and feel myself swoon. It’s so perfect, with a simple, round diamond on a platinum band. “And this is gorgeous.”

“There’s a seat next to her for you,” someone says to Keaton. “You can go back to the audience now.”

“You’re going to sit with me?” I stare up at this man, and I can see the nervousness on his face. The slight hesitation. “You don’t have to.”

“Yes, I do. And I’m fine. Just don’t leave me.”

I laugh and lace my fingers through his. “No way. You’re stuck with me, Mr. Williams.”

The after-party has been the best, and I’ve been to some fun parties lately.

But this one? I’ll never forget it.

Keaton and I are sitting at a table with Trisha and Garth. Garth’s asking Keaton about cars, and from the little pieces of conversations I’m picking up on, it sounds like Keaton has another celebrity client in his back pocket.

Keaton always says that he’s so proud of me, but I’m just as proud of him.

When I reach for my drink, I can’t help but notice the sparkle of my ring in the light, and when I stop to admire it, I hear Misty giggle behind me.

“Don’t mock me. I’m a newly engaged woman, and I’m entitled to ogle this beast.”

“Mock? Me? Never.” She sits next to me with a sigh and plops her statue onto the table in front of her. “That thing is heavy.”

“Yeah, what a burden. Do you need me to take that off your hands?”

“Touch it and die.” She grins in that smug way she has, then steals my drink and takes a sip. “Keaton’s hot. How did you keep that a secret?”

“It wasn’t a secret.” I glance over at him, feeling a little thrill run through me. “It was just fast. And unexpected. I’m signing a new contract tomorrow morning.”

“Sidney!” Misty tugs me in for a huge, celebratory hug. “Hell yes. HELL YES! I knew it was only a matter of time. I’m so fucking happy for you. Also, how did you wrangle a songwriting sesh with Leo fucking Nash?”

“He’s Keaton’s uncle.”

I grin as Misty simply goggles at me.

“You’re going to be related to Leo Nash.”

I blink at her. “Yeah, I guess I am. Uncle-in-law. Also, Luke Williams will be my father-in-law, and Will Montgomery is another uncle-in-law. There are a million celebrities in that family; it’s kind of mind-boggling.”

“Holy shit.” Misty swallows hard and then grins at me. “Good for you. How’s Mama?”

I just love this woman. She always asks about my mom.

“She’s doing really well. Really well.”

“Thank goodness. This new life looks damn good on you, friend.”

I glance at Keaton again and find him watching me with those hot, green eyes.

“Yeah. Yeah, it does.”

Chapter 18

Keaton

“I knew it!” Liv shrieks and because she’s on video call, we can see her do a little happy dance. Vaughn’s just grinning at us. “I knew this would happen if Stella and I set you two up. We’re so good at this!”

“Uh, Liv? I don’t want to burst your bubble, but—”

“Let her have it,” Vaughn suggests. “She’s going to tell the story that way anyway.”

Sidney giggles beside me and rests her head on my shoulder. “I was so surprised. I was on that stage, singing, and when the lights came up on the piano, there he was. I thought I was going to pee myself.”

“We watched it,” Liv says. “It was so romantic. It’s all over social media now. Sorry, baby brother, but your days of being anonymous are pretty much over.”

“Yeah.” Surprisingly, I’m not as uncomfortable with that as I thought I would be. “She’s worth it.”

“I understand,” Olivia replies with a soft smile. “And I get a new sister. You guys need to come back to Seattle so we can start making plans.”

“Whoa,” I reply with a frown. “We’ve been engaged for all of six minutes.”

“Exactly,” she says. “We’re already behind. Have fun, you two. See you soon.”

We end the call, and I sigh, looking down at the woman I’m going to marry.

“That was only call number one out of about twenty. This is going to take all night.”
