Sam was right there with me. His rhythm faltered when he grunted a warning. “Fuck, I’m gonna come.”

Me too. Cum spurted over my fist as wave after wave of pleasure slammed into me.

I was so caught up in my own release that it took me a moment to realize he was shaking in my arms. I held him close and kissed his temple.

“Are you okay?” I whispered.

He chuckled softly and disengaged. He pulled a few tissues from the box on the nightstand, disposed of the condom, then wiped the mess from my belly. When I pointed at the cum he missed just under my left nipple, he licked it clean and sucked the sensitive skin till I pushed him away with a laugh.

“Am I okay? I’m doing very, very well. Thank you.” Sam drew me near and rolled to his right side to face me. “I’ve wanted to do that since the day I met you.”

I grinned. “Me too.”

“What were we waiting for?”

“Well, for starters, I didn’t know your name.”

Sam’s smile warmed me from the inside out. “Oh, yeah. What did you call me?”

I buried my head in the pillow. “I can’t remember.”

“Oh, I can. Rooney Mc…something.”

“Swoony. That was so embarrassing.”

He shook his head, leaning in to kiss my nose. “No, it was sweet. And it was just what I needed. Like this. Here…now, with you. I know you have somewhere else to be, and I have no right to ask for more of your time, but damn, you feel so…right.”

What could I say to that?

Nothing.

I happily burrowed against his side and closed my eyes. Yes, I had other places to be, but I wasn’t ready to leave yet. Just a few more minutes wouldn’t hurt.

Sam

You know that feeling when you realize your catnap cuddle session turned out to be a three-hour-long sleepfest? Me either.

First of all, I rarely took naps and if I did, I figured my body must have needed the rest. So blinking awake in a strange bed with Chet in my arms while Mother Nature created a winter wonderland outside felt jarring, then oddly perfect. There was no reason to panic. I had nowhere else to be and let’s face it, I’d had it bad for this quirky science guy for weeks now. I never thought we’d end up naked in bed in—

Chet bolted upright and bounded out of bed toward the bedroom window. “Oh, no! What time is it?”

I peeked at my watch, swinging my leg off the mattress. “Um…it’s just after two o’clock.”

“Dagnabit! I’m in trouble. This is not good. Not good at all.”

“Shh. Hey, it’s okay. Relax.”

“Okay? It’s not okay. What am I going to do?” Chet threw his hands in the air and pointed at the magical white stuff falling from the sky. “Look!”

“Wow, it’s really coming down.”

“I have to call Julia. She’s going to be worried.”

He rummaged through the pile of discarded clothes on the floor next to the bed. His hands were shaky as he pressed the buttons on his screen and paced to the window again.

“Hey, stay calm. You’re safe and sound. That’s what matters.”

Chet seemed unconvinced. He stared gloomily at the snowstorm wreaking havoc outdoors with his phone to his ear.

“Hi, it’s me. Yes. I’m fine. I drove my neigh—friend to his cabin. No, we just arrived. Yes, I know. Um…” Chet stole a glance my way and turned, lowering his voice when he continued. “There’s an extra bedroom, and I don’t think he’d mind if I stayed here. Yes, I’ll text you.”

He set his cell on the nearest nightstand, hugging his arms around his middle and gnawing the hell out of his bottom lip.

I brushed his hair from his forehead and tilted his chin. “You okay?”

He nodded, then shook his head. “I’m sexually sated but riddled with guilt.”

I pulled a “yikes” face. “That’s heavy.”

“Yes, it is. I succumbed to temptation, lost track of time, and lied to my sister. We didn’t just arrive. We’ve been here for hours”—he flung his arms toward the bed—“having sexual relations.”

“Very hot sexual relations.”

“True. And I’m not sorry about that, but I’ve made our acquaintanceship needlessly complicated.”

“We don’t have an acquaintanceship. We’re friends,” I argued.

“Yes, but we’re friends who just…”

“Fucked,” I supplied.

Chet’s cheeks turned pink as he inclined his head with a sigh. “Yes, and now the roads are closed. I’ll confirm to be sure, but Julia stays up-to-date on that kind of thing. I’m sure she’s right.”

“Hmm. I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s snowing hard.”

He cast a somewhat bashful glance my way. “It looks like you’re stuck with me. I hope you don’t mind.”

I ran my fingers along his side and pressed a kiss at his temple. “What part of ‘I want you’ don’t you get? I wasn’t kidding. I’m sorry about the snow, and I’m sorry your plans didn’t work out, but I’m also selfishly happy you’re here.”
