This was a disaster. It was the only way I could explain it. I loved Livvy more than anything in this world, and I couldn’t watch her spend the rest of her life with this asshole. Let alone have children with him. Her father was governor, and I could only imagine how thrilled he was that his only daughter would be marrying into the Hunter Oil dynasty.

They were one of the richest families. Generational wealth dating back to the early nineteen hundreds. It was an empire, and their joining would get her old man ahead of the game if he decided to run for the presidency. According to Livvy, his whole team pushed for it. He’d done a lot for the state of South Carolina and was very well-loved. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.

The man’s ambitions knew no bounds. I guess you could say we had that in common. The way I wanted to explode was so unfamiliar to me. I was a man who prided himself on control, and now I felt as if I didn’t have any. Livvy was meant to be mine, and I’d make sure of it no matter what.

I had no fucking problem reminding her of that. It was only then that I realized what I had to do. I had to remind her of what we once had. Of what we’d always have. Of what we were to each other.

Ethan and Livvy.

Livvy and Ethan.

Best friends.

Soulmates.

Then.

Now.

Forever.

Because at the end of the day…

She was mine first.

Livvy

I stared at myself in the mirror, inhaling a deep breath. I wore a floor-length white satin dress that clung to my body like a second skin. It accentuated all of my curves with a deep V in the back. My red hair flowed loosely, reaching almost my ass. The makeup artist went heavy on the eye makeup and bright red lip.

Hundreds of people were flying in from all over the world for our weeklong celebration. Our families weren’t too excited about us wanting to get married immediately, but with the power of both our families, it wasn’t hard for them to accomplish it. The castle would be filled with our invitees in less than an hour. I barely knew a handful of people, yet our wedding was reaching 1500 guests.

Politicians.

CEOs.

And God knows who else.

The elite on our guest list was endless.

The Château d'Esclimont Castle must have cost a fortune to rent out for the week. Everything would take place here, and although I was excited to become Mrs. Hunter, I was also nervous about what was to come. This was the storybook wedding every little girl dreamed of, including myself.

Beau was truly making all my dreams come true, and I loved him for it.

When he asked me to marry him a few nights ago, I’d be lying if I said I expected it. We’d been on and off for the past ten years. The past two were probably the best of our entire relationship. After we got back together the last time, I think we both changed in regard to what the other was looking for.

Beau didn’t ride my ass about Ethan anymore, but maybe it was because we hadn’t really seen one another other more than briefly, one time, in the past two years. We still talked quite often, though, yet he no longer gave me a hard time about that. I felt as if he finally accepted that Ethan was my best friend, and he wouldn’t ever come between that.

Beau knew his role in my life. He was my number one and always a top priority to me. However, Ethan was right there beside him. They were both the men in my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way, regardless.

Seconds later, Beau suddenly came up behind me and wrapped his arm around my waist.

“You look so breathtaking, sweetheart. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look more beautiful than you do right now. I can’t wait to see you in your wedding gown if this is what you look like for our engagement/ welcome party this evening.”

I smiled at him through the mirror. “You don’t look so bad yourself in that tuxedo, Mr. Hunter.”

“This old thing,” he teased, winking at me through the reflection. “Why, thank you, Mrs. Hunter.”

“I’m not Mrs. Hunter yet.”

“I’m just practicing. Have I told you how much I love that you’ll be my wife?”

I smiled, enjoying his affection.

“Till death do us part, Elizabeth.” He kissed my neck. “Have you found your wedding gown?”

“Not yet, but our mothers are scouring the country for it. Tomorrow morning, they’re holding me hostage to find the perfect one.”

“Are you going to the bridal shops?”

“No, they’re bringing them here.”

“That sounds like our mothers.”

“They have become rather close in such a short amount of time.”

“They’re spending money. It’s what my mother does best.”
