Sadie lifted her gaze and met his. “I don’t want you to think I’m permanently damaged or anything from the relationship. I’ve moved on. I just never met another man I trusted enough to be my Daddy is all. I didn’t go back to that club for obvious reasons, and I decided it was easier to practice my kink alone rather than risk finding someone else who could be a real Daddy to me.”

Rocco’s heart hurt for the Little girl inside Sadie who hadn’t ever had a real Daddy, but part of him was grateful she was available to be his at this moment in time, too. He leaned her head against his shoulder and rocked her. “Thank you for sharing that with me, Cookie. I’m sorry you had a bad experience. I’m glad it didn’t end worse than it could have. I promise you will never be a domestic servant to me, Little girl. Daddy will be the one taking care of you in this relationship, not the other way around.”

She snuggled into his chest and wrapped an arm around him. After a few minutes, she whispered, “I’m scared, Daddy.”

He stiffened and leaned back to look at her. “Of what, sweetheart?”

“Of everything. Of waking up to find out you’re not real. Of not being the sort of Little girl you want. Of being able to do my job and keep my Little side separate. Of…” Her breath caught, and a sob escaped. “Of those bad men catching me and taking me away from here so I’ll never see you again.”

Sadie threw her arms around his neck again and squeezed so tightly she nearly choked him. He held her close and rubbed her back. “Nothing is going to happen to you, Sadie. Daddy is going to make sure of it. As for the rest, in time, you’ll know I’m real. Every day from now on, you’ll wake up in my apartment. And you never have to worry about being a specific type of Little girl to please me, sweetheart. You are already perfect just the way you are. I fell for you the moment you stepped out of the back room when I arrived.”

She gasped and released him. “You did?”

“Of course.” He smiled at her shocked face.

Her cheeks turned pink. “I thought you were the handsomest man I’d ever seen. I was nearly tongue-tied.”

He chuckled. “Then it was meant to be. And I don’t want you to worry about keeping your Little separate. You’ll do just fine. If you slip up and call me Daddy sometimes, the guys won’t care a bit.”

“But I need to hire people, and they aren’t going to know about our special relationship.”

“That’s okay. If you don’t want them to know, you’ll reserve your Little for when you’re alone with me and the guys. If other people find out and they can’t respect your lifestyle, then they aren’t very good people to have around anyway, are they?”

She sighed. “I guess you’re right.”

“Any other concerns before I read more of our story and tuck you into bed, Cookie?”

She shook her head. “I don’t think so.” She spun around. “I think I left my water in the bathroom.”

He lifted her from his lap. “How about you run and get it while I open the book on my phone.”

“Okay, Daddy.”

His heart was in his throat as he watched his Little girl skip from the room. She was lighter on her feet after their deep conversations. He hoped he’d been helpful. All he wanted in the world was for his Little girl to be happy, healthy, and safe.

Chapter Seventeen

Sadie hadn’t felt this safe in weeks. Or maybe ever. Tucked into the daybed in her new playroom in Rocco’s apartment would make any Little girl feel safe. But when she added the fact that the fifth floor wasn’t assessable to the general public and any intruder would have to get past six large, growly Daddies to get to her, she breathed easier.

She knew she was supposed to be asleep. After her Daddy had read chapter two to her until she couldn’t hold her eyes open, he’d tucked Edgar and one of the new penguins under the covers with her and kissed her forehead before tiptoeing from the room.

Sadie had fallen asleep with a smile and was still smiling as she woke up. The problem was that it was still very dark outside. The only light was coming from the penguin night light.

She had no idea what time it was because there was no clock, and she must have left her phone in the kitchen. The door to her room was open several inches. Daddy hadn’t shut it all the way. That fact added to her cozy cocoon.

Snuggling both her penguins against her chest, she luxuriated in the feel of the expensive sheets that smelled so good. Whatever Daddy had used to wash them had left a very pleasant scent.
