Hell, he wasn’t wrong. All of us could use extra sleep, really. But the club called and so did our duties.
I shut my eyes, taking advantage of his order. Rolling onto my side, I circled my arms around April and draped a leg over her thighs, holding her captive. I barely heard the door click shut as Capone left the room.
CHAPTER 7
April
Brewer was curled around me, my head resting on his left arm when I opened my eyes. His right arm was banded around my torso, his face buried in my hair. I yawned, and when I breathed in, the scent of Capone infiltrated my lungs. One glance at the nightstand told me we were still in Capone’s bed, though the man himself wasn’t in the room with us.
A picture of Capone and I was sitting on the nightstand beside one of his guns, and beside that picture was a pic of him and the rest of the guys. My heart swelled in my chest as I ran my eyes over each face in the photo.
God, I loved all of them so much. They’d given me a home. Safety. Somewhere to finally belong. And while their dynamic had been different to me when I’d come here, I’d quickly fallen in place with them.
Besides, seeing them together… it fucking did something to me. I’d thought something was wrong with me when I was with my ex. My sex drive was basically nonexistent, which led to fights that ended in me sobbing on the floor, blood running down my legs from my ex taking what he wanted because I wouldn’t give it to him. But these men had awakened something within me when I’d not only seen them together, but they’d offered their protection to me.
And made my ex disappear.
I would never forget that night.
My hands flew to my throat, a scream ripping from my lungs. It still felt as if he was ripping inside of me, but the bed was not his. It was my own. Silk sheets covered the comfortable mattress, letting me know I was safe and under protection. Expensive sheets like these would never have been found on my ex’s bed. He couldn’t afford them.
My room door flew open, and all seven men rushed inside the room, weapons drawn. I shrieked and scrambled into a sitting position, scooting against the headboard, my heart thumping wildly in my throat at the sight of those weapons. Vomit threatened to spew from my lips. My heartbeat rattled in my lower front teeth.
Just as quickly as they’d barged in, the weapons disappeared from sight, and Tank and Capone got on the bed. Tank reached for me first, and I fell into his embrace, sobbing out my pain and the horror I’d just relived.
“You’re okay,” Tank said softly, his fingers running through my long, dark strands. “You’re safe now. He can’t touch you again.”
“It felt so real,” I sobbed. “I thought I was right back in that house, on his mattress—” I choked on another sob, my words abruptly cutting off.
“The fuck did you just say?” Capone said softly, but there was danger lining his words. He grasped my chin and turned my head to face him. Murderous intent gleamed in his eyes, but his touch was soft—gentle. “Did he fucking rape you, baby girl?”
My lips trembled, and that combined with the horror no doubt lingering in my eyes was enough of answer for him. He pointed at Smokey and River as he got off the bed. “Both of you stay here with Tank.”
“Capone—” I choked out, my hand reaching for him.
Leaning over the mattress, he grasped my face in his hands and smoothed his lips over mine. “I’m going to make him disappear, baby girl. I promise.”
With that, he strode from the room. Smokey grasped my hand in his, and River stroked his fingers through my hair. Tank never relinquished his hold on me.
“What is he going to do?” I asked, my voice scratchy from screaming.
“Exactly what he said he was going to do,” Smokey gently told me. Sniffling, I looked at the gentle giant. He brushed his thumb over my knuckles, softly smiling at me. “Get some more sleep. We’ll be right here. I promise.”
I hadn’t wanted to fall back asleep, but with the three of them holding me in some form, my eyelids drooped. And I didn’t wake back up until Tank gently shook me. When I groaned and burrowed deeper against his chest, he said softly, “Open your eyes, baby. Capone is back.”
My eyes flew open at that. Sure enough, Capone was standing in front of me. Wordlessly, he set a box on the bed and opened it up for me. Vomit rushed up my throat, but I swallowed it back down.
Capone had chopped off my ex’s dick. The bloody member was lying in the box, which was lined with plastic on the inside.
