“And don’t worry about Joey,” I let Jade know. “There’s a place for him in all this too, somehow.”

Not knowing exactly how he’s going to help us out, but getting the strong sense he’s the kind of kid we need in our company.

Hell. The world needs more kids like Joey, and if the past twenty-four hours are anything to go by, I’ve found two of the best assets in Jade and Joey.

But for now, I’m only interested in making Jade mine, claiming her good and proper.

“I feel awful leaving him behind,” Jade murmurs, “but only because I know his mom’s grounded him. He won’t be able to play his games, which for him is the worst punishment.”

“He’s got his phone, though, right?” I ask Jade.

I note her quizzical expression when she answers. “I’m pretty sure he has more than one. Why?”

“Oh, no real reason,” I smile, knowing a smart kid like Joey wouldn’t let lack of computer access hamper his gaming.

“So what do you say? Shall we go check out this hotel, or would you rather do something else?” I ask her next, steering our conversation back to more pressing issues.

Like her and me on top of one another. It’s where we should’ve been all this morning instead of playing dodge the moms.

She nods without a word, and her hand slipping into my lap that starts to bulge instantly gives me her reply.

“Hotel it is,” I growl low, grinning again and already counting the seconds before I taste her sweet arousal again.

Jade’s excitement builds once we’re close to the hotel, and the feeling of need we have for one another is at a fever pitch by the time I pull up out front.

I would’ve asked her more about the best Baltimore has to offer if we were seeing the sights. But right now? I think I’m sitting right next to it.

The valet gives us a strange look once I help Jade out of the car, and taking my bag from the back seat, he comments that he hopes she has some shoes someplace.

I fight the urge to tell him she won’t be needing shoes where we’re headed but only smile instead.

Giving him a story about how our luggage got lost on our flight.

He looks sympathetic and promises to keep an eye out for its arrival, recommending a few stores close by and offering the hotel’s help if we need anything before then.

Following us in, he explains our made-up situation to the concierge. About as much drama as the place sees this early in the day, too, by the sound of things.

It feels like we have the whole place to ourselves already somehow.

And Jade’s too busy staring around, wide-eyed at the luxurious foyer, to take much notice as I check us in.

“I’ll let you know as soon as your luggage arrives, Mr. Templeton,” the concierge assures me as he hands me the key.

I give him a blank stare, then shrug when he asks what airline we flew in on and if we knew the flight number so he can keep track of it in the meantime.

“Ummm, okay. Where were you traveling from?” he smiles, hoping to have something to go on.

“Philly,” I tell him, watching his face fall and his mouth crease.

But Jade’s already tugging at my hand, doing her best to drag me toward the huge spiral staircase leading upstairs.

I shrug at the concierge again and call over my shoulder, telling him we’re not to be disturbed. “Under any circumstances,” I try to tell him with a serious face.

So with one hand in Jade’s and the other carrying my bag, we make our way upstairs to a formal-looking landing.

The antique-looking elevators in front of us appear as bright and new as the day they were made.

I picked this place because it’s an old building rebuilt to look the same as it did back in the day.

Once Jade helps instruct me how they actually work, we’re on our way to our floor, right at the top.

Jade’s hand is in mine as she starts to look a little nervous, gnawing at her lip the way she does that drives me wild.

The elevator slides silently to a halt, and we get out to find that the suite I booked is the only room on the floor.

Looks like we do have some real privacy after all. I knew this place would be perfect.

We could be anywhere, though, and it would still be perfect. Anyplace where Jade is will always light up and look like a million bucks.

The solid double doors to our suite have large, gleaming brass handles, and we both let out a little sound of surprise when we open them together.

My hand over hers, I feel her whole body shivering in front of me. As we step inside, it feels like we’re really stepping back in time.
