The kids swarm out from the crowd that’s infiltrated our house, each beaming a smile to Joey for having played their part.
And even baby Olivia isn’t bothered by all the faces or all the noise.
Holding a tall, thin flute of apple juice high as Jade and I get handed one too, Joey toasts us on our fifth wedding anniversary.
“To my best friends, my bosses, and the happiest couple I think I’ll ever know!” he cheers, and everybody joins in with their own well wishes until it’s clear that the fireworks display isn’t just a few crackers being set off in the yard.
It’s an impressive show, alright, and I can only imagine just how much planning and effort Joey, the kids, and Jade’s mom must’ve put in to make all this happen.
With the spectacular backdrop of the sky exploding just for us, I toast my wife.
My best friend and definitely the only player I’ll ever team up with in this game.
The game of life, or as my darling Jade calls it affectionately, The Game of Love.
Happy Anniversary, Jade.
I love you to the moon and back.
