“I’m off at the hospital,” Hutch said.
“I’ll see what I can do at the shop. We’ve been really busy.”
They nodded, and then the Hutchinsons left, followed by my family and Mads, until it was just Hutch and me there. I took his hand, seeing his ring that matched mine. We’d gotten married three years ago, becoming Hutchinson-Lynwoods—and thus doing our part to help bridge the divide in our families, and as Kins would say, bringing peace to the land.
We were back home, in bed, Raphael and his new baby brother, Michelangelo, curled up at the foot of the mattress, when Hutch said, “We should do it.”
I didn’t have to ask what he meant. My heart swelled, so much happiness and love surging through me. “You’re sure?”
“Yes.”
We’d been talking back and forth for a year now about starting the process for adopting, but we wanted to make sure we were ready, that it was what we really wanted. Kinsley had offered to carry a baby for us, and we’d considered that, but there were so many kids out there who needed a good home, and Hutch and I both knew that if we did this, if we became parents, it would be through adoption.
“Hell yeah!” I rolled over and basically pounced on him. Raph gave an irritated meow and jumped down, Mikey following. I reached down, pushed my hand between Hutch’s legs, down past his balls. “You gonna give me some ass to celebrate?”
He grinned. “I don’t know… Last time it was a little boring when you fucked me. I think you’ve lost your mojo.”
“Fuck you.” I laughed, thrusting against him.
“Do you remember how?” He flipped me and I let him, this time Hutch pumping his groin with mine. “Or am I going to have to take your ass and show you?”
“You wish, Doc.”
His mouth crushed against mine, kissing me with all the emotion I knew he felt. Hutch was no longer seeing a therapist and had stopped taking his anxiety prescription a while back too, but I knew that if he ever needed it again, he would do what had to be done. He had the biggest heart of anyone I’d ever known, he felt things more than most, and I loved him for it.
“I’m feeling toppy tonight too…” Hutch said.
“Flip? But who gets to go first?”
“Rock, paper, scissors?” he teased, making me laugh.
“Betcha I can make you beg for me inside you before you can make me do the same.”
“You wish, mechanic.”
I cocked a brow. “It’s been a while since you called me that.”
“Back then you were off-limits, and now you’re mine.” Hutch kissed his way down my body, took me into his mouth, and won the damn bet.
Though, I was a winner too.
