“He wouldn’t say a word about you.” Brad sniffled and seemed to try to wake himself up again. “Not to me. I only knew you’d been intimate because of how we’d found you. Drake wouldn’t talk about you to anyone. I know his boss asked him and he said he hadn’t gotten any information from you.”

“He never asked me,” she admitted. “We talked about things, but he never asked me what my father was doing. Our conversations about my father were more of a historical and personal nature. I talked about how I was raised. He did the same. I have to wonder if he was waiting until he had me in a more trusting position before he asked more direct questions.”

“Are you asking me if he slept with you to get information?” Brad asked.

“Is he capable of it?”

Brad nodded. “Absolutely. He’s done it many times. Did he do it with you? I don’t know.”

At least he was honest. They could go from there. “All right. Well, I’ve got work to do, and you should figure out what your friend is doing. Maybe the two of you should talk about whether or not he should stay at The Garden when we get to London. It might be better for him to distance now.”

She was being a coward, looking for any way out. Or she was being an excellent agent and putting her mission above all.

She wasn’t entirely sure which.

“I’ll talk to him.” Brad sighed. “I hope this garden place isn’t as weird as this one. There are hooks in the bed here. I should have stayed at a motel. Also, I’m pretty sure this place is haunted.”

“It used to be a brothel, so I’m sure even the ghosts are horny.” She was getting used to the idea of working with Brad. The fact that he’d been willing to talk to her about his friend made her think he might be able to put her needs as an operative first.

His head shook. “Yep. Next time we’re moteling it. Good night, Taylor. Get some rest because you’re going to be evaluated tomorrow. I sent you a copy of the testing I need to do. I was going to let you spar with Drake when it came to the self-defense portion of the evaluation, but I’m afraid Jax and Tucker are going to have to do.” His eyes lit up, and a smile lifted the corner of his mouth. “Unless you think we can get Solo to do it.”

So he did have some horniness of his own. “I think I’d rather beat on the men. ’Night, Brad.”

She turned and started to her own room.

“Taylor.” A masculine voice called out her name.

She turned and Drake was standing there.

“Hey, Drake. We should probably talk.” Brad didn’t seem to notice that Drake wasn’t looking at him.

His gaze was trained solely on her.

“It’s late, Drake. I should get some rest.” She didn’t trust herself not to go to bed with him. He was obviously her kryptonite. She knew he was bad for her, but she couldn’t resist.

He strode down the hall, ignoring Brad completely. She had the slight instinct to run since he looked predatory, like he was hunting for a meal and she was definitely on the menu. Instead, she found herself holding her ground, bracing herself for impact.

And what an impact it was. Drake strode right up to her and got into her space. She didn’t have a second to think before he had an arm around her, pulling her close, and his mouth came down on hers.

The kiss was hot, sending sparks through her body, reminding her of everything this man could do for her. Every cell of her body responded to him, and it didn’t matter that she knew he was wrong for her. She simply wanted him in that moment.

He pulled back, and his gorgeous face stared down at her. “I have to go. I’m leaving tonight, but you should understand that I’m not done with you. Don’t try to convince Brad to get rid of me. Don’t think I’ll change my mind and stay at some hotel while we’re in England. If I can, I’ll be on the plane with you. If I can’t, I’ll be there as fast as I can, and I’m going to take you in the dungeon every night I can. You will sleep with me, and you’ll do it because you want to, because you can’t stop yourself. Take the next couple of weeks to wrap your head around that truth. I’ll call you tomorrow, and it won’t be about work. The fact that I’m not physically with you doesn’t mean I can’t play with you. Answer the phone, Taylor.”

She could barely breathe after that kiss. “Maybe I will. Maybe I won’t.”

It was up to her, after all. It would be smarter to not pick up that call. She could only imagine the things he would want from her.
