Relief floods me and the tears I was holding back come now, tears of pure joy as I laugh at the same time.
“The heartbeat is nice and strong, and you can rest easy. Your baby’s fine,” the doctor says. He turns the screen around so that Viktor and I can see it. “Look here.”
He points at what looks like a tiny peanut on the screen.
“That’s your baby,” he says.
“Hi Ava or Jack,” I whisper.
“Oh, so we’ve chosen the names already, have we?” Viktor says, laughing with the same relief that makes me cry.
I grin happily. “Well, they’re not definite or anything.”
He leans down and kisses my forehead.
“We can call the baby anything you want Amelia,” he says. “All I care about is that you’re both happy and healthy.”
Doctor Patrick moves the scanner away from me and hands me a wad of tissue which I use to wipe the jelly off my stomach. I want to beg him to let me listen to the baby’s heartbeat for a little bit longer, to see him or her on the screen for a bit longer, but I don’t. My baby’s fine and that’s all that matters, and I’m suddenly very much aware that not everyone waiting to see a doctor will be getting such good news. I don’t want to hold the doctor up from seeing people who still need treatment.
“Thank you so much, Dr. Patrick,” I say as he shuts the scanner down.
“Yes, thank you Doctor,” Viktor echoes.
The doctor waits until I have my jeans fastened, my top pulled down and I’m sitting up again.
“Amelia,” he says gently. “Excuse my language, but if you want to prosecute the bastard who did this to you, I can call the police and have them here in minutes.”
“No,” I say quickly. “I don’t want to go through all that stress. I just want to forget any of this happened and look to the future. Thank you, though.”
“Well, if you’re sure.”
“I’m sure.”
He shakes my hand then Viktor’s.
“Your baby is well and you’re now free to go.”
We stand up and thank him again then we head back outside. First, Viktor calls his driver to come and get us, then he turns to me. “Well, I guess I’ll be making another sizable donation to this hospital.”
“I guess you will,” I echo.
He pulls me into his arms then and I melt into him. He leans down and his lips touch mine and fire and longing flood my body. It feels so good to be back here in Viktor’s arms, where I belong.
He kisses me like we’ve been apart for years rather than weeks, and I feel the kiss in every part of my body. My pussy responds to Viktor’s kiss, getting wet and clenching hungrily, wanting him to take me home and fill me up. I hold him tightly against me, needing to feel the solidity of him, to know this is really happening. I’ve dreamed of this moment every day for the last two weeks, but not even in my wildest dreams did it feel this good.
Finally, Viktor pulls his lips from mine. We stand in each other’s arms, looking into each other’s eyes. Viktor smiles and his eyes twinkle.
“I didn’t want to stop kissing you, but I had to. I don’t think I could have stopped myself from going any further if I hadn’t, and a hospital parking lot doesn’t feel like the right place for me to show you how much I’ve missed you,” he says.
“I’ve missed you too,” I say. “So much. More than I could ever begin to explain.”
“You can show me when I get you home.” Viktor winks.
I laugh and nod eagerly.
He laughs too and he squeezes me a little tighter and then he releases me from his hold and takes my hands in his, still looking me in the eye. “I can’t wait to be a father.”
“You’re going to be the best dad in the world.” I beam. “I only hope I can be a good mom.”
“You’re already a good mom,” he smiles. “Dan was about to kick you in the face when I came into the trailer, and still, it wasn’t your face you were protecting. It was our baby.”
He releases one of my hands long enough to rub his palm gently over my stomach. He takes my hand again. “I love you, Amelia. More than anything in this world, and when our baby comes along, I’ll love him or her so much too.”
“I love you too, more than words,” I tell him.
He kisses me again, his worry about not being able to control himself forgotten. We finally break apart when we hear an awkward cough beside us. Viktor’s driver stands at the curb, the back door to the car open. I laugh and Viktor laughs with me. We didn’t even hear the car pull up. We get into the car and Viktor asks the driver to take us to his estate.
