I hold my phone out to Jaz to show her. “Holy shit,” she shrieks.

“Holy shit,” Louie repeats.

“If you’re not going to screw him, then I will,” Jaz says as she grabs my phone and starts zooming in on the photos. “Fuck, I would do anything to be in your position right now. That man would have had me bent over the massage table within two minutes of the appointment. You must have some serious will power.”

I roll my eyes but my comment is cut off by Louie’s foul-mouth. “Holy shit,” he repeats again.

“Shut up, you little bastard,” I call out.

Damn it. I cringe knowing the error of my ways. I’ve just added fuel to the fire. “Little bastard, little bastard,” he starts repeating.

Jaz looks over the back of the couch to admire my foul-mouthed bird. “That bird is fucking awesome,” she sighs. “If you ever get sick of his twisted ways, I’ll be happy to take him off your hands.”

I roll my eyes before snatching my phone back from her and looking at the photos once again. He truly is breath taking. “The fucker is a jerk, but he’s my jerk,” I say, referring to Louie.

“Why was your day so shit?” I ask as a knock sounds at the door. I get up and find a teenage, pimply pizza man and begin riffling through my bag for some money.

With the pizza box in hand, I head back to the lounge, passing by Louie’s cage to let him out. He instantly flies over to the couch and makes a home out the backrest.

“I had the tiny tots dance class this afternoon and the assistant dance teacher called in sick. We were doing choreography with a full class of twenty kinds who were all exhausted and whingy. It was literally hell on earth, I usually enjoy the tots class but today I couldn’t wait to send them home,” she practically cries. “I swear, I had the biggest headache. I mean, I love kids but days like today makes me want to never have them.”

“Geez,” I cringe. “I’ll definitely take rubbing up the sexy hockey players over that shit,” I laugh.

"It's so not funny," she sulks. "I had my adult's class after, so at least that gave me a chance to relax but I have to say, wine, pizza, and Louie are going a long way to fix it all."

I hold up my glass to her. “Cheers to that,” I say as she brings up her own to clink against mine.

An hour later, we have annihilated the bottle and made the sensible decision of leaving the second bottle for Saturday night.

After Jaz leaves for the night, I go about my night-time ritual of locking up Louie and pulling his blanket over his cage. I head into the kitchen and clean up from dinner before climbing into bed and finding a message from Brendan on my phone.

Brendan – How was your first day?

With a smile, I get comfortable and hit reply.

Elle – Amazing. A few awkward moments with the Captains junk but otherwise, I absolutely loved it.

Brendan – What the hell are you doing getting close to the Captains junk?

Elle – long story.

Brendan – Is this Logan Waters? Stay away from him, he has a reputation.

Damn it. I forgot how closely he followed the NHL. I shouldn’t have said anything, now he isn’t going to stop bugging me about it.

Elle – Hey! I’m the older sibling here, I’m supposed to be warning you off girls, not the other way around.

Brendan – Tough shit. You’re all I got. Deal with it.

I roll my eyes as I picture him saying that.

Elle – fine, but don’t stress. There’s nothing to worry about with Logan. I’m not stupid enough to fall for his charms.

Brendan – Yes, you are.

Elle – You’re a loser! Night Bren.

Brendan – Night.

With that, I plug my phone into the charger and place it on the bedside table as thoughts of Logan start creeping into my head. Shit. I need to stop thinking about him.

I. am. Not. Interested.

Holy cow. I’m so interested.

I‘m screwed and not in the good way. I have never been so affected by a man before and why does it have to be a man like Logan? One I can’t possibly avoid. Come the start of the training season, he’s going to be at the arena every single day, in and out of physio all the time, making me clench my thighs together while pretending there isn’t an itch I really, desperately want him to scratch.

My job is too important.

But seriously, that body. Far out. I only saw the bottom half which was mind-blowing, not to mention the size of his… shit. No. I must not think about that.

I swear, a body like his only comes from a life time of training. His muscles were like rock, so defined and hard. The second I touched him, I freaking melted. I can’t wait to see the top half.
