“So, she is hiding shit from all of us,” Emilio bites out.

“I’m not hiding anything.” Brielle’s voice, coming from the doorway, surprises all of us.

All heads whip towards her, and my eyes land on the beauty who’s now entering the meeting room. She’s dressed in a pair of skin-tight jeans and a T-shirt that’s far too big for her and is hiding her luscious curves.

“Then what are you doing?” Emilio’s tone has turned to ice as he looks at his sister.

Their similarities are clear. They are family. It’s just too bad they can’t see it for themselves. But only time can make that happen.

I glance at my own brother for a moment, and I can see how strong our bloodline runs. Turning my attention back to the princess, I rest my hands on the arms of my chair and tip my head to the side as I regard her.

“Why don’t you sit down and tell us the full story,” I ask her.

I’d prefer finding out all we need to know from her, rather than having to go to her father. I doubt he’ll offer up any information, especially when it comes to his daughter, but if she can’t give me what I want, I will have to get it from him.

Perhaps bringing him in here and keeping him in a cell may force him to change his mind. That’s what those cells are built for. They’re designed to break the mind and spirit. Even those who believe they’re strong, end up shattering far sooner than they’d think possible.

Brielle slips into a chair, her eyes downcast, and I want to order her to look at me, but I wait until she does it of her own accord. I realise I want her to want to look at me. We made sure she knows who owns her when we took that final step and fucked her. But, even though all three of us will be hers and she ours, she’s still ultimately going to be my wife. And with that, comes the responsibility to ensure she accepts our dynamic, rather than demanding a conventional marriage.

“When I was younger, my father found out I had a heart defect,” she whispers in that sweet voice of hers, but the room is so silent we can hear every word. Her confession has a captive audience.

All of us stay silent. There’s nothing we can say to ease her worry, not yet anyway. We have to wait until Brielle is ready. I never expected her to burrow herself so deeply into our world. And now she has, I don’t want her to leave.

“It was minor, but then I got sick one day, and a common cold turned to pneumonia. That’s when I almost died. It was clear I needed a transplant. The doctors were adamant. They also explained that if I received a new heart, I’d be on immunosuppressant medication for the rest of my life. But my father didn’t care and made it happen.”

Her words set me on edge. I knew it was serious, but the idea of her no longer living does something to me. My feelings towards her have changed. And I don’t know how to handle it.

“So he took you into the hospital?” I throw out, recalling the knowledge I garnered from her records.

“He did.” She nods, and I can read the sadness in her eyes.

She doesn’t look at either of us as she blinks slowly. It’s as if time has slowed, and all I see is her. I didn’t expect the emotions to capture me as much as they have, but here I am, ready to fall into her inferno. I knew this girl would be trouble from the moment I met her. I would kill for her now, and it wouldn’t have me second-guessing my decision. I’m ready to go up in flames for her.

“And you got a transplant,” I offer again, causing Emilio to glance at me before turning his attention back to his sister.

The thing is our world is about to explode. I know it, and so does Val and Kai. We’ve all read the information.

“I did get a donor.” This time, when she speaks, her gaze lands on Emilio.

The secrets in the Saviatti family are immense. And I know Emilio is going to want to go to his father after this next revelation—there’s no question about it. If I was Emilio, I’d want to face the bastard and talk to him myself. I look back at Brielle who’s staring at me. No anger in her gaze, just the slight flicker of worry. She’s scared of hurting her brother. She doesn’t need to be, though, because it wasn’t her choice at the time. It was her father’s.

“They found a donor who happened to be the daughter of my father’s mistress,” Brielle whispers before lowering her gaze to the table. “She was about my age at the time.”
