“There it is,” he says gruffly. “It’s out there now. I own you, Jennifer. I own your sweet body. I own your future. I own your beautiful round ass and your even more beautiful tits. I own all of you, and I’m done fighting it, done trying to push it down…I could’ve lost you today.”

He leans over, guiding his lips to mine. I meet him in the middle, my hands moving to his face, cradling his cheeks as we sink into the kiss.

He makes a hungry snarling noise through the closeness, making my clit cry out for attention as my nipples rub blazingly against my bra.

But most of all, it’s his words that burn inside of me, his words telling me I’m his.

His.

Like I’ve wanted ever since I saw him.

He breaks the kiss off but holds his face close, letting me feel the shape of his smile against my lips.

“Is this the part where you tell me I’m a crazy old man?”

“You’re not old… but maybe you’re a little crazy.” I kiss him again, then smile widely, brimming with all the good emotions even if the bad is lurking eagerly at the edges. “But I want it, Jamie. I want all of it. I want to be yours.”

“Maybe you don’t understand what I’m saying.” His hand glides up my thigh, squeezing onto my leg as though he can’t get enough of me the same way I can’t with him. “I mean, I want you, need you…for life. I need to claim you, Jennifer, claim that young body of yours and fill you with children. I’ve been thinking about a future together and….”

He trails off when I begin to cry.

Since Junior took Kelly, I feel like I’ve been far closer to the edge of tears, like I can easily collapse into sobs.

But this is more than that.

This is pure joy, light, and love surging through me.

Love.

“I want it too,” I whisper, pushing my words past the sobs. “So freaking badly. I want everything you said… I want us. I want children. I’ve…are you serious, Jamie? You want all of that?”

“I want it,” he says firmly. “I need you.”

“And you and Kelly?”

“I swear, it was all for show.”

But you can’t tell me the reason.

I place my hand on his chest, feeling his heartbeat drumming.

“Your heart is beating out of control.”

He chuckles. “I just told you I want to have children with you. I want you for life…and we’ve only known each other for a few months.”

“What, you thought I’d run?”

He looks around at the quiet road, at the forest bordering us. “Maybe not run.”

“Not physically,” I say. “But from us. You thought I’d run from us?”

He nods. “It crossed my mind.”

I lean over to him, kissing him with all the passion I’ve ever felt for him. All those moments at parties, doubting and hating myself because I thought he and Kelly were together…it all erupts out of me, guiding my hands up to his shoulders as I dig my fingernails in, holding on, never wanting to let go.

“I want all of it.” I gasp when the kiss breaks off. “Everything, Jamie.”

“People will call us insane,” he grins, as though this moment is so special he can’t help but smile, despite everything. “We hardly know each other. We only kissed for the first time….”

“I know it’s fast,” I say. “But the truth is, I don’t care what anybody says. I don’t care if it makes sense to anybody else. I’ve wanted you for months.”

“I’ve wanted you for months, too,” he snarls. “The first time I saw you when Kelly introduced us, you’ve got no idea how difficult it was to hold myself back. How hard it was not to grab you right then and kiss you. I fought the urge to kiss you every single time we saw each other.”

“Me too,” I whisper, then laugh a little. “Although…I don’t think I ever would’ve had the courage to actually kiss you.”

“But you do now.”

He smirks, and I kiss him again. Our mouths open, and we indulge in the pleasure, our tongues finding each other in clashing lust.

“We should go,” he says, leaning away. “Otherwise, I won’t be able to stop.”

My heart shudders at that, his words making me want to say something sassy, confident… a promise that I’ll fulfill all his desires when we make love.

But I can’t.

Because I know the truth.

“Okay,” I whisper. “Let’s go.”

CHAPTER

TWENTY

Jamie

We wait in the main room. Calling this place Dad’s old fishing cabin was just how Matt and I have always talked about it.

But I’ve kept the upkeep going over the years and added a few extensions here and there.

Now it’s a three-bedroom log cabin, and the type city folk would pay a lot of money to rent out for a weekend.

The fire is unlit, the lamps turned on, the windows open to let the place air out.
