“Two,” Vanessa called out. “And a white pesto flatbread.” She looked at me. “We’ll share it.”
I smiled. That was my favorite and she knew it. I’d been trying to lose these last ten pounds, but it was so hard. Weight had always been difficult for me to lose but never more so than after the accident. These days, I did a lot of yoga, but hadn’t worked up to cardio yet. My physical therapist was forcing me to get back to normal one tiny step at a time. It made me crazy, but I trusted her; she was the whole reason I was walking again. And I wouldn’t do anything that might slow or completely halt my progress.
“Let’s focus on the Black Friday specials today,” Vanessa said once Nellie was gone. “And this weekend you and I can talk some more about the summer catalog. Deal?”
I gave her a small smile. “Fine. Deal.”
“We’re also going to talk about Lars.”
I groaned. “I don’t want to talk about him.”
“You like him.”
“I do, but a guy who sneaks out without a word isn’t the kind of man I want in my life. I’ve already had a relationship with the world’s biggest asshole. I want a guy who’s devoted to me. Who loves me more than money or the fact that I’m a supermodel.”
“You can’t possibly know that Lars isn’t that guy after one date.”
“Aren’t you the one who told me going out with him was a bad idea?”
“Yeah, but maybe I was wrong. Maybe he’s exactly what you need to get out of this funk you’re in.”
“I’m not in a funk,” I protested. Even though I kind of was. I just didn’t know what to do about it.
“You are so in a funk.”
We stared each other down until we burst out laughing.
“Fine, this weekend we’ll talk about all the things. But right now, let’s figure out Black Friday and eat.”
We ate in relative silence with her on her laptop and me checking messages on my phone. Just as the others filed back in around two, my phone buzzed and I was surprised to see a text from Lars.
Lars: Hi. This is Lars. How are you?
Sheridan: Busy today but doing well. How about you? You had a great game last night.
Lars: You were there?
Sheridan: No, I watched on my phone while I worked.
Lars: You work so many hours in the evening?
Sheridan: Sometimes, and right now we’re getting ready for the holidays, which will be extremely busy.
Lars: When do you relax?
Sheridan: On Sundays, unless something comes up.
Lars: We will be on the road this Sunday.
Sheridan: Like I said last time we talked, we’re both very busy.
Lars: Yes, but a good orgasm will relax you like nothing else.
I chuckled to myself since he had a point.
Sheridan: Is that so? You think you’ll give me a good orgasm?
Lars: Didn’t I? I thought you had many good orgasms.
Sheridan: I did—great orgasms, as a matter of fact. But I’m still crazy busy.
Lars: I’ll do that thing you like with my tongue.
My insides clenched with excitement. He’d tongue fucked me until I’d been both begging for more and begging him to stop. It had been insanely sexy. And despite initially choosing not to go out with him again, the thought of him going down on me was enough to change my mind.
Sheridan: How many times?
Lars: As many as you can stand.
Sheridan: What else?
Lars: What else will I do to you?
Sheridan: Yes. And I want details.
Lars: Anything you want. Do you like ass play?
Holy hell, my panties were about to be soaked. Thinking about Lars touching me there was enough to make me flushed with excitement.
Sheridan: I never have. Will I like it?
Lars: You will if I do it. You’ve never had an orgasm as strong as the one you will have with my finger in your ass.
Oh, yeah, my panties were soaked.
Sheridan: My favorite was when you used your mouth.
Lars: My favorite is your ass. I can touch and kiss it all day. And your breasts. They are perfect for my hands.
Sheridan: You realize I’m in a meeting and now I’m all hot and bothered?!
Lars: Then let’s find a time to get together to do these things in person. What about Friday?
Sheridan: I can’t. I have vendors in from LA and I’m taking them out.
Lars: I’m gone from Saturday until next Friday and then a game next Saturday afternoon here at home. Do you want to go out after the game?
Sheridan: That’s my mother’s birthday so I’ve got plans with her.
Lars didn’t respond for a few minutes and I tried to figure out what I’d missed in the meeting. Vanessa was talking about the online sale for Black Friday, and whether we wanted to discount the whole site twenty-five percent off or create a coupon code that customers had to type in.
