“Well…” He cleared his throat and looked around the large table our group was occupying. “Can I have everyone’s attention, please? Hey! Guys! Can I get like, a fraction of everyone’s attention?”
I cupped my hands around my mouth and yelled, “Mavericks!”
Everyone went quiet and looked my way.
“Thanks, dude,” Nash said. “So I have an announcement to make.”
“You better not be retiring,” Boone said.
“Nah, nothing like that. I’m going to be doing a photo shoot in the Bahamas because I was chosen as one of the Sexiest Athletes Alive.”
“No way!” Drew said.
“Yeah.” Nash grinned.
“Did no one submit my name?” Wes asked.
“I just beat all you ugly mofos, fair and square,” Nash said.
“Congratulations,” I said, clapping him on the shoulder. “This calls for another round of drinks.”
“No, it’s nothing like you and Sheridan getting engaged. But I said I’d tell everyone about it tonight, so I wanted to.”
“Are you posing nude?” Wes asked.
Nash shrugged and said, “If they want me to.”
“We can get you a baby sock to cover your wanger,” Boone cracked.
“Whatever.” Nash just laughed, and they continued busting his balls, but I’d lost interest.
Instead, I glanced over at my fiancée and marveled at just how beautiful she was.
