He cared about him. Truly cared about him.

He hadn’t wanted this, and he wasn’t sure what he was going to do about it later, but he would be staying. Not only did he want this man with a fire he’d never experienced, leaving Ezra right then would do the kind of damage he didn’t want Ezra to ever experience.

Alaric kept his gaze on Ezra’s face as he slowly pushed inside him. It was so hot and so tight, he gritted his teeth, trying to keep his movements slow. The urge to pound into him was strong. He wanted to sink as deep as possible. Hell, he wanted to live inside this man. And though he’d wanted to show Ezra there was more to sex, he was the one experiencing the intensity of their connection. Ezra stared at him through slitted eyes, his sensual lips slack with pleasure, and he gasped as Alaric hit his prostate.

Aiming for that spot, Alaric started to move his hips, relishing the moans and gasps coming from Ezra. He pushed Ezra’s legs higher while plunging inside him. It felt so fucking good. Tight. Hot. He’d never get enough of Ezra. He bent, falling between Ezra’s thighs to bring their mouths together. Ezra lunged up to meet him, opening wide for Alaric’s tongue. Feral, hungry kisses followed that made him dizzy with pleasure.

His balls drew up as he thrust as deeply as possible, and he gasped into Ezra’s mouth. “Gonna come.”

“Fuck, me too,” Ezra panted before kissing Alaric again. Then he thrust his head back and let out the longest, sexiest moan just as wet warmth splattered Alaric’s stomach and chest.

Seeing this man so overcome by euphoria, watching him let go and knowing it was from what they were doing together. Enjoying each other…it sent Alaric’s own pleasure through the roof. He pounded into Ezra as his orgasm built and built, and when it hit, he couldn’t stop from shouting loud enough for the others to hear. He didn’t care—cared only about the absolute joy streaming through every part of his body.

“Yes!” Ezra cried out as he spurted again.

Alaric collapsed on him, then managed to force himself to roll off Ezra so he didn’t crush him. His heart skipped one of its racing beats when the man just turned and burrowed into his side, then gave his chest the most tender, precious sort of kiss before burying his face in his armpit. Alaric wrapped his arms around him and held him close while inwardly he could only reel. That had been the most intense experience of his life, and somehow, it had connected them. He knew in that moment that he was meant to be with Ezra. That this man belonged to him. And that all his fears about letting himself love another human weren’t going to make a difference.

Because he couldn’t see leaving him ever.

Chapter Sixteen

Alaric

When Ezra spoke, it was in a hushed whisper though they’d both just made enough noise to wake the dead.

“I saw my ex murder someone.”

Alaric’s muscles tightened, and so did his arms around Ezra. “Who?”

“I didn’t know the man. I’d awakened in the middle of the night in my room—I had my own because Brian and I didn’t share—and I’d gone downstairs to get a snack. There were noises coming from his office, so even though we were in a bad place at the time, I decided to see what he was doing. Brian was in there, along with his two main bodyguards and the men I call the twins. There was a man tied to a chair, a stranger. He was crying. Snot and tears all over his face as whimpers came out around the gag in his mouth.”

“What did you do?” Alaric asked as he stared at the dark ceiling.

“Stayed very quiet. Brian was firing out questions about some shipment, but I couldn’t understand why since the guy was gagged and couldn’t speak. None of them saw me. At first. Brian and his goons had their backs to me, but Brian calmly walked up to the tied man and slowly slit his throat all the way across—so, so slowly. Like he relished the feel of the blade cutting through skin. As it was happening, the tied man’s eyes met mine and despite the gaping line in his neck, for one instant, his eyes flared with hope.”

Ezra made a choking noise and pressed his cheek against Alaric’s chest.

“You couldn’t have helped him. Not at that point.”

“I know, but still seeing that small hope killed me. There was blood everywhere, Alaric. I still see that blood sometimes when I close my eyes. But that night, I just silently backed out of the office and hurried back up to my room. I locked the door before throwing up all over the floor. Then I just sat there, staring at nothing for I don’t know how long. It was like I couldn’t move, couldn’t focus.”
