Yeah, I bet.

Rumor had it that he was a young teen when his work had first started showing up online. So many things were falling into place and I couldn’t help chuckling. “You’ve always been a bit precocious, haven’t you?”

His cheeky grin peeked out as he shrugged again. “Does that mean you’ll pose for me?”

He was crazy.

“We’re going to have rules about the places my naked ass is going to show up. Is that clear?” When I narrowed my eyes at him, he laughed, not making me feel terribly confident.

“I’ll be very good, Daddy.” He crossed his finger over his chest. “Promise.”

The first thing I was going to do once he conked out later would be to update my limits list.

“Thank you, baby.” As I slowly wandered around the room, taking in the half-finished pieces I expected would be a new series, I couldn’t help shaking my head. “This is amazing, but you’re going to laugh.”

Giving me a delightfully suspicious look, he sighed. “Why?”

“Your grandmother bought me because you turned down a show at my gallery, cutie. She heard me venting a few weeks ago at a charity event.” Giving him an overly dramatic huff, I crossed my arms over my chest. “Your manager turned me down last month. She said you weren’t doing shows on the West Coast.”

He gave me a sheepish look and shrugged again as he hid behind a shelf that was filled with all kinds of knickknacks, aiming to look cute and innocent. “Well, you should be happy to know that it wasn’t personal?”

Inching closer to me as he came out from his hiding place, he tried for sweet and beguiling, but I could see the barely suppressed laughter in his eyes. “She…um…she’s been told never to accept anything in Washington State. That’s always a no, and usually the whole West Coast is a no as well. She doesn’t even ask anymore.”

Because he didn’t want people showing up…or knowing who he was so then they could show up. Part of it was ridiculous, but I knew that the mystery of who he was had pushed his popularity. Just the speculation on his age and gender kept art gossips on edge.

“I did a few in New York when I first started selling, but I just keep a hat on and don’t talk about myself.” Camden shrugged again. “I never stayed long, though, so my manager doesn’t push me to do them anymore.”

This was definitely filling in more than a few blanks in our how we met story.

“Baby, your grandmother bought me so she could drag you out of the artistic closet and be able to brag to her friends about her grandson, the hot artist that everyone is desperate to meet.” When his mouth dropped open, I stepped closer and wrapped my arms around him.

Camden really was too innocent for his own good in a lot of ways.

He only had such complete privacy because most people thought he was a woman. I’d heard rumors from the few people he’d met in person that said they weren’t sure about his gender, but no one had been confident that he was a guy.

There was no way his grandmother could brag until people knew she wasn’t lying. She’d been planning on using me to push him out of the creative closet. She was such an ass. “You know what this means?”

He blinked, coming back to the moment with a huff. “We get to fuck with everyone at the party?”

Chapter Fourteen

Camden

“Absolutely.” Daddy gave me a quick peck as I processed what he’d said.

I wanted to tell him he was wrong, but I had a feeling he wasn’t. Which sucked. It really sucked. But besides fucking with everyone, what was I supposed to do about the kink thing?

“Um, Daddy?” I decided curling into him sounded much better than asking him to his face, so I rested my head on his shoulder because he was always a good hugger.

“Yes, baby?” As his arms tightened and I relaxed again, he waited and waited for me until I sighed.

As he chuckled, I finally got up the nerve. “If she bought you so that you could talk me into being famous, what’s she going to think about you when she realizes we’re dating? She might not have known you’re…well, that you would be a wonderful Daddy.”

He shrugged, simple as that. “I don’t care, honestly. Everyone who works with me knows I’m gay and I’ve been out since high school. Let’s face it. We don’t exactly live in an area where most people would care.”

He had a point.

As he kissed my head and kept me snuggled close, I felt the last bits of stress I’d been holding onto fade. “Alright, Daddy.”

Hmm, that was still going to be a problem.

“But I really shouldn’t call you that.” He giggled, not being helpful at all. “I have to try. I can do it.”
