Dante’s pleasure came moments later, the hot and hard length of him pumped and spilled into me. It was the perfect lazy Saturday morning, and I never wanted it to end. His body tensed and then collapsed with pleasure. “Lucy!”
I laughed nervously and held on to him as his pleasure ebbed. “Good morning to you too, honey.”
He laughed, staying right where he was, buried deep until his cock slipped from me. “Great morning, babe. Love you.” He smacked a kiss to my mouth and rolled to his side.
“Love you more,” I moaned, my lips split into a permanent grin as I thought of the surprise I had for him today. “I need a shower.”
“I’ll join you,” he insisted and did just that.
We enjoyed a long, erotic and leisurely shower that would make environmentalists angry, before we dressed and headed downstairs for breakfast. Dotty made my favorite, pancakes and sausage and eggs for breakfast. It was the perfect meal to boost my courage to reveal my secret. We left Lena with Dotty in the kitchen and I convinced Dante to head back upstairs where it would be more private after we’d eaten.
“What’s on your mind, Lucy? It must be serious.”
I frowned at Dante’ question. For the past few months as we’ve gotten to know each other and settled into our new roles as a couple and joint caregivers, he seemed to know me better and better. Some days it felt as if he knew my thoughts before I did. “Who said there’s something serious on my mind?”
He smiled. “I do. Talk to me, babe. What’s up?”
I inhaled deeply, releasing it on a slow smile as the butterflies in my belly settled. “I have something to tell you, Dante. It’s important, and serious.”
His smile slipped and he gripped my hands in his. “You can tell me anything.”
“I’m pregnant,” I blurted out because I didn’t know how else to share the news with him. I wasn’t sure if Dante would be on board with growing our family since we hadn’t really talked about it. Lena was thrilled that we were one big happy family, but our future was uncertain. “Dante… say something.”
He blinked and continued to stare at me as if I spoke a foreign language. “You’re pregnant.”
“I am,” I said slowly, warily. “How do you feel about that?”
Dante barked out a laugh and pushed off the bed. My heart pounded as I watched him disappear into his closet and wondered if he would return fully dressed before he asked me to leave. “I wasn’t sure if you would want this, so I’ve been hanging on to it, waiting for the right time.” He held up a black velvet box and jumped on the bed once again.
“The right time for what?”
“For us,” he said and pressed a kiss to my bare belly. ‘The right time to talk about our future. I know we’ve been playing things by ear, enjoying our happy bubble, but the future is ours and it’s out there waiting for us to grasp it.”
“Our future,” I hummed. “That sounds nice.”
“I’m glad you think so, because our future, you and me growing old together is all I’ve been able to think about for months, Lucy.” He popped open the velvet box to reveal an over-the-top diamond ring that sparkled so bright it damn near blinded me. “Lucy, my sunshine. My love. Meeting you was the most unexpected moment in my life. Blond and bubbly and sassy, you were everything I didn’t know I needed or wanted in this world.”
I laughed. “You mean you weren’t sure about a woman who told you off on the side of the road?”
He joined in on the laughter. “No, but every moment after that put us on the path to where we are today. In love, and ready to expand our family. You make me so happy, and I’m pretty sure I make you happy too?”
“Deliriously happy,” I assured him with a soft kiss to his beautiful mouth.
“Perfect, because, I love you and I want nothing more than to start the rest of our lives together. Lucy, will you be my wife? My partner in life and in mischief?”
“In mischief? There’s no way I can say no to an offer like that!” Life with Dante and Lena was never boring, that much was for sure. “Yes Dante, I would very much like to marry you and spend our life together in mischief.”
“I promise you it’s going to be a great life, Lucy.”
I held the side of his face because he was the greatest treasure I ever found in my life. “I have no doubt, Dante. It’s already been so great.
“Remember you said that because I have one more surprise for you.” He darted from the bed once again and returned with a large—no, a very large—garment bag.
