“You’re just saying this because you had an accident.”

Driver closed his eyes against the hurt in Tam’s voice. Of course he’d think that. “Come with me, I want to show you something.”

Tam hesitated.

“Give me a chance.” He tugged gently and Tam gave in, following him back into Harrison’s apartment. Driver closed the door behind them, then went to the table where he’d left the contract Brandon had given him. He handed it to Tam.

“What’s this?”

“Read it.”

He did, brow scrunching. “I don’t understand.”

“I’m employed. Officially on the books. There’s even a clause in the contract that says I can’t take off without a month’s notice. I’m staying this time, Tam. I want to stay. I want to be here.”

“Because you have no other choice. Your bike is wrecked, you can’t walk. What happens when she’s repaired and you’re healed?”

“I know it might seem that way. I’d probably think the same if I were in your shoes. If it takes the rest of my life, I’ll prove to you how serious I am. I’ve been lost since my family died, running from one place to another, always searching for something I couldn’t even say aloud. Then I met you—you dropped me on my ass the first time I saw you and you’ve been keeping me on my toes ever since. I’ve finally found what I didn’t even know I needed. I found you.”

Tears were flowing freely down Tam’s cheeks now, his lips wobbled behind his hand as if he were trying his best to hold them in.

“I want to trust you,” Tam whispered. “I’m just so afraid that I’ll be destroyed when you leave.”

Driver took Tam’s hand. “I’m not leaving, but even if I were that stupid again, you are much too strong to be destroyed because of me. You are my hero.”

Tam’s hands curled around Driver’s wrists. “You make me want to jump.”

“Don’t give me credit for something that’s been inside you the whole time. You have courage pouring out of your pores. It hypnotized me from the beginning.”

“Tell me again,” Tam said.

Driver’s chest ached with sweetness. “I love you, Tameron Kis. I love you so much and I will love you forever. I choose you. I choose us. And I plan on choosing us for the rest of my life. You’re it for me, precious.”

Tam’s smile strove through tears, full of yearning and tentative trust. “I love you too. I’ll choose us every time.”

* * *

If he was dreaming, Tam never wanted to wake up.

“Kiss me,” he whispered, lifting on his toes and wrapping his arms around Driver’s neck.

Driver groaned as he brought their mouths together. It wasn’t like any kiss that came before. So soft and unhurried, it was submission and acceptance and patience. It said forever in every brush of lip to lip, in the gentle sweep of tongue to tongue. This kiss spoke only of love in the purest form. It ignited Tam’s core, the deepest places inside, and set his dark shadows on fire.

It had only been two days, but it felt like a lifetime since the last time they’d kissed. And even then, it hadn’t been like this. They’d both held back until now, keeping a piece of themselves safe because they were scared. There was still fear, but they weren’t hiding anymore. Driver was giving everything he had, Tam could feel it. It seeped into his skin, soaking up his doubts and taking them away. Trust.

Could he do it again, knowing how much it hurt when things ended?

He wanted to, more than anything. Part of him already did, had probably never stopped. Maybe he’d always trusted Driver more than could be explained. It was like their hearts knew each other from the moment they met. It’d been useless to fight the connection, just as it was useless to worry about the future now that he had everything he wanted in his arms.

Whatever came would come despite Tam’s worry. So it was better to let go of any sense of control and give in.

With his whole being, he knew Driver would catch him if he fell.

So he abandoned control and surrendered.

“Missed you,” Driver said against his lips before kissing him again. His arms were wrapped tight around Tam’s waist, hands clutching at his shirt desperately.

“Me too.” Tam fisted Driver’s hair and nipped at his chin.

Driver grunted and squeezed Tam harder. “Love you.” Their tongues tangled in a deep kiss that left Tam breathless.

“Me too,” he said when they finally parted.

“Want you.” Now Driver’s big palms massaged Tam’s ass as he ground their groins together.

Pleasure flooded Tam’s blood, making his limbs heavy with desire. It was getting hard to stand up on his toes, his legs were trembling and not just from the exertion.

“Me too,” he breathed.

Driver stopped kissing him and rested his forehead against Tam’s. “Let’s go home.”
