Blinking, Dessie put his thumb in his mouth again and something about the way he was looking at me said he’d gotten littler again.

Hmm.

“I like lists.” Yes, we could make it fun and stop him from worrying about whatever he thought I’d done wrong.

Nodding slowly, the thumb came out at a snail’s pace, but once it was out, he leaned against me and stared into my eyes again. “No rush Daddy. I good boy.”

Oh.

“Austin said not to rush Daddy, huh?” Yep. Dessie nodded. “Well, Austin wouldn’t think it was rushing to have a list. He likes plans too.”

He’d need the ability to appreciate a good to-do list if he was actually going to take over the world.

Dessie’s eyes and lips all pulled in tight making him look constipated instead of just thinking too much. Thankfully, the disturbing expression didn’t last long. “Okay. Lists.”

Since that seemed to be a just lists kind of statement, I decided to stay within what appeared to be his limits.

As long as I could figure out what those were.

“I’ll go first.” That sounded like a Daddy thing to do and made him happy for some reason, but his cheek pats and beaming smile were distracting. “Um, we should make sure I know how to take care of you and what kinds of toys you like.”

And he was back to radiating skepticism.

What had I done wrong already?

“That’s important so I know what the playroom should look like and…and it will make me more confident.” That was a stab in the dark but the smile was inching brighter.

But what had I done right?

“Good boy, Daddy.” Dessie’s enthusiastic praise and cheek kiss were sweet but not helpful. “And?”

He wasn’t feeling like giving me clues either.

Great.

“I…” What else? “We’ll need to come up with an explanation for what to tell my housekeeper.”

I thought that one was self-explanatory since we’d just gotten done talking about it, but Dessie’s proud smile said otherwise.

All right, we were stating the obvious too.

“We’ll…We need to discuss limits in more detail, including boundaries, like how much time you expect to have to yourself.” Hmm. I got the confused face again. “You might actually want space from me once in a while. Some littles do. I read it online.”

Dessie pulled back and frowned like he’d eaten something sour. “No.”

When his thumb went back in his mouth, I realized he thought that was a complete answer. “Alright, I’ll remember that.”

And I’d remember to ask him a few clarifying questions at a later date.

Dessie nodded but that was about it, and I realized he was waiting for my next stupid response. “We need to start having dates out in public?”

I wasn’t so sure about that answer any longer, but he smiled around his thumb.

Maybe I wasn’t as dumb as he thought?

What would normal dating people do?

What would other types of submissives do?

What had Austin done?

Firstly, he’d bought his way into Silas’s business. “I need to bring you into work and show you what I do?”

I didn’t think the business ownership part was an issue for us, so I was glad when his smile said I’d guessed right.

Dating a little was harder than Austin had said it would be.

“We need to go to the club so I can meet your friends.” When that answer got me a beaming smile, I felt my IQ climb significantly. “And we need to explore other parts of the club together to see what we’re both curious about. I’ve heard there are themed rooms.”

Dessie giggled around his thumb but didn’t shake his head or look at me like I was a few crayons short of a box.

“I don’t really have friends to introduce you to.” I wasn’t upset about that, so I shrugged when Dessie looked like he was going to pout. “People are generally annoying and are usually hiding too many secrets.”

It was frustrating.

“But when we’re ready with good explanations, I’ll introduce you to my housekeeper and the staff in general. There aren’t many, but they’re mostly relatives and people who’ve worked for my family their whole life.” I knew that wasn’t how most people found help, but I wasn’t going to worry about it.

Nodding, Dessie gave a happy wiggle and snuggled close again. That seemed to mean that we were done planning the list, so I wrapped my arms around him and stroked his back. “It’s a bit of a list, but we’ll start working our way through it.”

He seemed content with that plan, but he poked me with one finger. “And yes, we won’t rush me.”

Clearly, I was the weak link in our mental health bridge.

Yep. He nodded again.

My sigh made him giggle and I found myself smiling as I kissed his head. “I don’t know what you’re worried about. It’s not like I’ve started renovating the house to make sure you have an office and enough closet space.”
