I had a pretty good idea since he’d gone over to bug Daddy.
“You’re amazing.” And really cute when he was worried, so I didn’t bother reminding him that he’d texted me first thing. “But you don’t need to stress about anything. I had a nice night and Daddy was flirting with me earlier when he texted me.”
Squealing, Austin made me laugh. “You called him Daddy.”
Rolling my eyes, I grinned even wider. “He likes it and it feels right. We’re not rushing things, though.”
Letting out a deep breath, Austin sounded like he was working through his stress all over again. “Yes, not rushing because he has things he needs to work through and you have trust issues.”
I’d have been offended if he weren’t so right.
“We’re both more than aware of our strengths and weaknesses, and we’re processing them appropriately.” My therapy speak had Austin groaning. “So far, so good. Promise.”
Wondering what I could tell him that wouldn’t fuck with Tyson’s privacy, I tried again. “I think I’m good for him and I think it was good for him to see that I wasn’t turned off. He’s good for me because he honestly has no preconceived notions about what a Daddy should be.”
Austin let out a relieved sigh. “But he’s a natural, right? He seems like a natural and he wasn’t weirded out by anything he and I talked about before I introduced you.”
Not wanting to know what things Austin had tortured Daddy with, I focused on the positive. “Yes, he’s a natural and is very sweet. I think his public side and his private side will be very different, though, so I won’t be surprised about that.”
I’d spent some time looking Daddy up online and he frowned a lot.
And a lot people used four-letter words every time they said his name.
Austin laughed, so I knew I was right. “Oh yeah, but he was smiling when you were having dinner and he looked relaxed. I thought that was a good thing.”
When he wasn’t thinking about killing Daddy, but I was hoping he’d forgotten that part. “I’m glad.”
“And don’t worry. He really is as comfortable with the diaper thing as he sounds.” Austin decided it was time to torture me for some reason. “I asked him why and he said that if he was comfortable licking an omega’s ass, why should he complain about changing a diaper, and you know, he has a point.”
Good grief.
“Why are you trying to kill me?”
He snorted. “Because all you told me this morning was that it was a great night and you had fun on your date. That was it.”
Daddy was right. Austin was a pain in the butt.
“You messaged me at five in the morning. I don’t think you’d even been to bed yet.” He was lucky I hadn’t tattled on him to Silas.
“Bullshit.” He sounded so sincere I pictured him rolling his eyes. “I slept great.”
He slept so great he had to tell me all about it. “I just had to be up for a meeting. Time zones suck big hairy donkey balls. When I rule the world, I’m going to make everyone use my time zone. Wherever I’m living will become the default time for the rest of the world. They’ll learn to adapt.”
It took me several seconds too long to realize he’d hung up and that traffic had finally started moving again.
As I tried to decide if he was fucking with me or not, I finally ended up at Tyson’s house and I was so distracted I almost didn’t register that it was nearly as big as Austin’s until I was at the gate. “For Pete’s sake.”
Okay, from what I could see, it wasn’t as grand and dramatic as Austin’s but it was still big enough that it felt like I’d ended up on another planet. “The man who likes information is going to like privacy.”
I probably should’ve realized that but it hadn’t registered.
I’d been thinking more about his cuddling skills than what his vague job description meant. Working in information did not mean that he owned some kind of info tech company. No. It meant he owned several of those companies and that he owned a newspaper and was rumored to have a network of spies like some kind of mastermind.
He wasn’t James Bond…he was that overdressed alpha’s boss.
That was actually weird, but it explained why we’d gone on our first date in Austin’s backyard and why I had instructions to pull directly into his garage.
“Yes, I do enjoy my privacy.” The voice that came through the speaker box by the gate was filled with just enough delight that he made me roll my eyes. “I can see that.”
Of course he could.
“I’m being very good and not saying anything where I might be overheard.” Not that I thought it could happen.
Tyson’s house was at the back of Austin’s development and I’d taken some kind of back road to get there. The chances of anyone realizing there was a second entrance to the development was slim to none.
