Right there. Out in the December night, with snow falling around them and her bandmates just feet away. Her brother who knew where… He could be standing in the shadows, watching them.

But she didn’t care who saw them. Apparently, neither did Dodge.

The much larger man claimed her mouth, stealing her breath, stirring her very soul.

His thumb rubbed up and down her pulse in her neck. He had to feel it pounding. With her need for him.

One night.

That was all it took for her to want more.

Why him?

She groaned as he deepened the kiss, continuing to take her mouth like he owned it.

She gripped the wrist of the hand wrapped around her throat, but did nothing to attempt to free it. She only held on to keep herself on her feet. To keep her rubbery legs from giving out.

She wasn’t afraid to admit she liked his hand there. She liked the power it gave him. More than she ever thought she would.

A quiet strength. A possessive touch. A promise of what might come.

Everything on her began to throb, to pulse, to race. Every cell in her body screamed for his touch.

Her groan mixed with his when his erection pressed hard against her belly. He tilted his hips just enough to make sure she didn’t miss it.

An impossible feat. Unfortunately, it only made her want him more.

Now was not the time or place for that.

She twisted her head to break the kiss since he had told the guys to hook up the bus. They could step out at any second and see them like this.

To witness their “leader” letting someone else take control. To them it may be a sign of weakness or they might misconstrue the situation. Think what Dodge was doing wasn’t welcomed.

When it was far, far from that.

No matter what, she didn’t want to create more tension between Dodge and Rex. Or even between him with Nico and Eddie.

They were more her big brothers than Sig was.

His fingers tightened the slightest bit on her throat as she caught her breath and tried to slow her spinning thoughts.

When she turned her face back to him, she tried to tell him that they should move away from the bus. However, nothing but a ragged rush of air came out when she saw his face in the limited light coming from light over the shed door.

His head was tipped down. In the pocket of darkness where they stood, she couldn’t read his eyes, but she could feel them.

Hot. Intense. Even possessive.

Both a thrill and fear shot through her.

Her breathing shallowed, the deafening beat of her heart filled her ears.

She knew right then and there he wanted to own her.

Not only have sex with her, but truly take her as his own.

But that made no sense.

Who in their right mind allowed that? Did anyone hand over their power to someone else willingly?

And why did she want to give him that? Give herself to him?

Again, that made no sense. It was crazy.

They only had one night together. One damn night!

Was she finally cracking apart and watching her pieces scatter?

He cupped her jaw and dragged his thumb over her bottom lip swollen from his kiss.

“Why do I want you so damn much?” he murmured, sounding annoyed.

With her? With himself? She didn’t know. But what she did know was she had asked herself the same damn question.

“You’re all I’ve been able to think about.”

His confession surprised her. It was the same for her but she wouldn’t admit it out loud. To do so, would give him that power she wasn’t ready to hand over.

In contrast, by him doing so, he showed her that he wasn’t afraid of doing the same. He wasn’t worried about handing any power over to her, otherwise, he would’ve kept that information to himself.

She needed to stop standing outside the bus in the cold and go meet with her brother. That was the true reason why they had turned the bus around and headed back north. Not to question her damn sanity over a man.

“What you said…” she started.

“It’s true.” The guttural sound of his voice swirled around her the same as the falling snow.

She shook her head. “About us not going anywhere for a while. We need to find more gigs, Dodge. We can’t stay long.” Her voice had become huskier than normal. Her nipples were painfully peaked from both the cold and from him being still pressed against her. “This is our livelihood.”

He released her throat, his fingertips slowly dragging across her skin as he did so, causing her to swallow hard. Making her want to tell him to not let go.

To keep holding on so she wouldn’t fall apart.

“You can play tomorrow night at Pete’s.”

“You don’t have another band booked?”

“Normally don’t book Sundays, but—”

“We’ll take what we can get,” she quickly told him, relieved for another chance to put a little cash in their pockets. “My plan will be to head back out Monday morning, then.”
