“If she wasn’t single, I wouldn’t have taken her out to dinner.”
Crew huffed out a laugh. “Bullshit. I’ve known you for years now, Ginger Snap. I bet you didn’t even ask.”
Fuck. He didn’t. He only assumed, figuring she would’ve shot him down about dinner if she was. “Here’s another option… If she says no to either proposal, I can go in as a regular customer.”
“Yeah, but even regulars don’t go in that often, do they? Even if you go into the club every few days, it’ll delay getting the info we need. I don’t want the evidence gathering on this portion of the investigation to be dragged out. There’s no reason for it and I might need you elsewhere. If she says no to the CI gig, then at least try to convince her to do the fake relationship bit. Make sure she knows it’ll benefit her, too. Though, I can’t imagine you being anyone’s boyfriend would be a benefit.”
“You mean like the benefit your wife got by divorcing your ass?”
Crew frowned. “Ex-wife.”
“Whether she agrees with the plan or not, we should consider sending in some of the TFOs into The Peach Pit as customers, anyway.”
“I’ll add that location into the rotation like the pizza shop, Hawg Wild and the rest of the businesses the Demons are buying up. But doing it that way is such fucking hit and miss, especially since they’re not dealing the meth out in the open.”
“True. But it’s easy to hang out in a strip club for hours at a time to observe. Unlike a pizza shop.”
“Agreed and more eyes can’t hurt. All right… Report back to me after tomorrow night with the results. I just hope she doesn’t blow your cover after you tell her who you are.”
“I don’t think she will.”
“You don’t know her, brother.”
Funny, that was what Mel said to him last night at dinner.
“Your gut instinct will only take you so far,” Crew reminded him even though Finn was well aware of that fact.
“I’ll make sure to spend as much time with her tomorrow night as I can between sets and after the show. If I get any kind of off feeling about her, I’ll scrap the idea.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
Crew opened the door and Finn followed him out into the common area. After a quick visual sweep of the first floor, he saw everyone he was expecting to show up was now gathered.
“C’mon,” Finn called out to catch everyone’s attention. “Let’s go mount up. I want to be back here before the Steelers game later.”
“About fucking time. We were waiting on you two assholes. Were you diddling each other in there?” Rez asked, making some kind of obscene hand gestures that didn’t make sense to Finn and it wasn’t worth asking.
“Aww. Were you feeling left out, dickhead?” Crew asked Rez, then he turned to Axel Jamison. “Do we have enough beer and chips and shit for the game?”
“I don’t know about you but I don’t plan on eating shit. As for junk food, we should have plenty,” the BAMC president answered. “I gave Nox money out of the club account to stock up. Plus, some of the guys on the task force keep bringing beer and booze whenever they use this space to hang out.”
“Good.” Crew nudged Finn with his elbow. “Better cover that flaming hair, Pippi Longstocking. Especially right now while you’re undercover as a Pecker. Once you’re clear of that assignment, it won’t matter who sees your ugly mug and fiery mess on your head and face.”
Finn noticed he didn’t mention the rest of what they talked about when it came to his assignment. He most likely would bring it up to the task force members if and when it got the green light.
“I’m already ahead of you on that.” Finn headed over to the counter where he’d left his stuff earlier and slid on dark wraparound sunglasses, tied a black bandana around his lower face and covered his hair with a black leather skullcap to disguise his very recognizable features. He turned to Crew and held his arms straight out from his sides. “Do I look anonymous enough, Motley Crew? I’ve been wearing this or a full-face helmet whenever I’m on my bike, whether wearing my cut or not. I definitely don’t want this assignment cutting into my riding time.”
“Well then… Let’s fucking ride!” Decker yelled as he passed Finn and whacked him hard on the back. “Like Rez-avoir Dog said, we’ve been waiting on you two fuckers.”
“Let’s fucking ride!” Finn repeated in a shout, leading the way.
Chapter Eleven
It was the same songs, same outfits and same dance routines as last week. But none of that made it any less freaking hot.
Mel’s eyes were glued to the stage the second the dancers ran out and started the opening act. Even though there were eight of them, she mainly focused on one as he moved around the stage, nailing the choreography and expertly “flirting” with the women closest to the stage.
