His orgasm tore through him with such force he couldn’t stop the bellow that ripped from his mouth. He still didn’t look away from those cornflower blues, and what he saw there, the absolute satiated trust and affection, formed a thick lump in his throat. It took him several moments to find his voice. “Just so you know, after that, I’m even more determined to keep you.”
Clive’s grin lit up his entire face as he pulled Bain down to him. “You’d better be.”
Chapter Sixteen
Clive
Clive felt like he was walking on clouds as he left the bathroom and strode into the kitchen the next morning. Bain had slept next to him and held him all night. And after blowing his mind. He’d never had any kind of sex like that. It was like they were made for each other, like their bodies had been moving together for years. And the way Bain had felt inside him? He was clenching again with just the memory, which sent a streak of pain up his backside. Sore or not, he already wanted him again.
Maybe he could take a soak in the tub.
Orgasms like that were worth it.
But it wasn’t only for the orgasms. He wanted to be with Bain. Learn everything about him.
He wanted to feel alive again and not so scared to be out in the world. Knowing that all the things he’d seen were just a part of an unknown supernatural world had taken away that feeling of insanity. He wasn’t crazy, just aware. Because at some point, somewhere in his family’s past, one of those preternaturals had created children with a human.
It was wild knowing that.
Bain handed him a cup of tea when he stopped next to him. Today, Bain had dressed in those purple jeans again, but this time, he’d paired them with an another one of his colorful shirts, this one in purples, blues and teal. It was so different from his own khakis and yellow polo shirt.
“Unfortunately, Xavier’s contact can’t see us until tomorrow,” Bain said. “Are you okay with waiting because I’d prefer we work with him? According to Xavier, the CEO of Bassinger Holdings is a powerful wizard, who could easily have someone else at the FBI in his employ. Xavier’s contact can be trusted.”
Disappointment pricked his chest, but Clive nodded and sipped his tea, surprised when he realized Bain had made him a perfect cup of Earl Grey. “I wanted to get it over with, but I can wait a day. I’m all caught up on my work and can take the day off, so what do you want to do?”
Bain’s eyes flared as he slowly smiled, and a shiver ran down Clive’s spine. “Maybe. If I soak in the tub.”
Coming closer, Bain cupped his ass. “Let’s give your hole time to recover. There are so many more things we can do. But how about that marathon? We’re up to Into Darkness—one of my favorites.”
“Mine, too. I know a lot of fans were upset with it, but I enjoyed it.” He took another sip of tea. “What about Alaric? Would he like to come in for breakfast and coffee?”
“I already invited him and was about to make waffles. Sound good?”
“Love them.”
Clive helped, and together, they soon had a high stack of waffles. While he heated the real maple syrup and chopped some fresh apples to sprinkle on top, Bain went outside to find Alaric, which didn’t take long.
Though he’d met Alaric already, he’d been too upset to pay attention to him, so now he did. Alaric was a little taller than Bain and wider across the shoulders, but his build wasn’t that different from Bain’s lean, strong body. He had blue-black curls that fell to his shoulders, and he was wearing a ridiculous black headband again. It reminded Clive of old ’80s music videos. He was dressed all in black, which surprised Clive because he’d thought the man, or elf, would want to blend in with the greenery outside. Curiosity about that headband made his tongue run away from him. “Are you wearing that because of me?” He pointed.
Alaric looked to Bain in question.
“He knows,” Bain murmured. “You can drop the glamour. And that stupid thing on your head.”
Alaric glared at Bain, but he did pull it off, revealing long slim ears that came to a point. They were utterly fascinating, and Clive knew he was being rude, staring.
“I wear contacts, as well,” Alaric told him. “My eyes aren’t a color that humans have.”
“What color are they?”
“Purple.”
“There are actually people with purple eyes, or violet. It’s rare, but it happens. I doubt you’d need to wear contacts if you don’t need them for your vision.”
“Mine are a bit different.” Alaric reached up to pop out one contact, revealing eyes like jewels. Amethysts. There was a circle of gold around the purple.
