But he smiled, touching my face. “Trust me,” he whispered again.

“I do,” I repeated. I thought he was about to kiss my lips once more, but instead, his lips were at my neck. I closed my eyes, my mouth parting as I leaned in closer, my hand on his shoulder. Then I found myself on my back as he kissed down the center of my chest, between my breasts, before he kissed each one. And just as I had witnessed that night in the garden, he took my nipple into his mouth, and I gasped at the feeling of not just that but where his hand was—between my legs.

“Evander…” I gasped as I felt his fingers stroke me, and I felt the fire spreading throughout my body, the desire pulsating upon my skin and the ache that he once spoke of in the pit of my stomach. “What…what is happening?” I finally found the words.

He lifted his head. “Do you remember when I said if you are skilled enough, you can find a release on your own?”

I nodded and then bit my lip as I realized his fingers were inside me.

“This is what I meant,” he whispered, watching my body moving against his hands. “You could do this on your own, but I much prefer to give you this pleasure.”

That was it, pleasure. It was upon me, blurring all my thoughts and senses, making me tremble. Never in my life had I felt anything like this, and the more I sought to make sense of it, the more lost I became. He kissed me once more, his tongue within my mouth and mine in his. The speed of his hand increased with the sounds coming out of my mouth.

“Forgive me. I cannot hold back any longer,” he whispered.

Hold back? How was this holding back? It was a question I easily found the answer to as he removed his hands and knelt before me, undoing his drawers, freeing himself. I saw…his manhood. I had been told that it would go inside me, but I did not know how that would fit.

“Aphrodite,” he whispered, hunched over me, my eyes shifting to him. “If I could have any wish now, it would be for the words to express how deeply I love you.”

I smiled. “And I wish the same for you.”

He held my thighs, and my heart ached in excitement and fear. He kissed my face so much that I closed my eyes, greedily accepting them all.

“This will hurt only a moment. I will not move until you feel ready,” he said, and I nodded. I threw my arms around his neck and held him, when all of a sudden I felt him enter me and I winced.

“I love you,” he whispered into my ear.

I bit my lip, breathing in slowly.

“I thank God you are finally my wife,” he said, kissing the side of my face. But besides that, he remained still, waiting for me as I hugged him tightly. I did not know how long we stayed like that until finally, it did not hurt.

So I opened my eyes. “Evander…”

It was as if he knew exactly what I wished to say. He moved, and when he did, I gasped, as I was not expecting the sensation. It was even better than the kisses and the fingers, as each time he thrust forward, all the pain melted into pleasure, his gaze meeting mine.

“More?” he questioned.

I nodded.

“Say it,” he demanded.

“More.” With my hands on his shoulders, I bit my lips as he gave me what I asked for, this time hitting deeper.

“More?”

“Yes…all of it,” I said.

“As you wish.” He held on to my thighs as he thrust himself in once again, harder, and he did not stop.

“Ah…ahh…oh…Evan…der…ah.” I put my hand over my mouth to keep from crying out.

“No, I need to hear you,” he said as he filled me in ways that I’d never thought possible. When I did not remove my hand, he leaned over and bit my nipple.

“Evander!” I gasped.

“Yes, just like that.” He grinned, licking my skin as I heard the sound of our flesh moving together, the bed shaking with us.

I turned away, seeking even the slightest bit of air, only to see my reflection in the mirror across the room…My face, just now, looked like the woman’s in the shrubbery, like Miss Edwina Charmant’s. I understood why she had looked like this. How could I not when all of me was being taken to such new heights?

The pressure in my stomach rose. This was— this felt— it was heavenly. I wanted more. My chest was on fire, but I wanted more.

He sat up, pulling my hips to him, thrusting harder, faster, shaking, grunting like a beast. Was this what he meant before? I did not know, and I did not care.
