I merely grin.
“Hey, there are a lot of joints that hire older women. What, you think the young and juicy girls have a lock on everything? Hell, over at the Roger Rabbit they have strippers that are seventy if a day.”
Rocky’s eyes practically pop out of her head.
“No way.”
I nod.
“I swear it. Not that I’ve been to the Roger Rabbit recently,” I add quickly. “It’s just something I’ve heard. Rumor has it that old Marybelle Nichols is one of their biggest earners in fact. She really makes it rain with her wizened mien and scrawny chicken legs.”
That makes Rocky burst out in laughter, which is a welcome relief after our harrowing encounter.
“Oh you,” she sighs, finally relaxing. “You’re so crazy, Logan.”
I pull her into my arms again.
“But crazy in a good way, right? I mean, I adore you, honey. You know I’d turn the world upside for you.”
Rocky steps back, pink coloring her cheeks. “Really?”
Suddenly, I go serious.
“Yeah, absolutely. You have a beautiful heart and soul, Rocky. Yes, the good looks don’t hurt, not to mention your sexy bod, but you’re so much more than that. Unlike Ursula, you have a wonderful personality, sweetheart, and I’m head over heels.”
Tears begin to glimmer in Rocky’s eyes.
“I love you too, Logan,” she says in a low voice. “More than you know.”
Suddenly, everything feels right in the world and it’s as if the important things have suddenly come into sharp focus. I steer my pretty girl over to the couch so we don’t have to stand in the hallway, and my fingers tangle in her hair as we take seats.
“I love you,” I murmur into her hair once more. “Despite the crazy things that have happened, you’re exactly my brand of crazy, sweetheart.”
She giggles.
“You mean with the Circle, the anal sex using a scepter, and the confrontation we just had with a mean old lady?”
I nod.
“Exactly that. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world because now I have you, Rocky.”
But the pretty girl pulls away for a moment, shooting me a long look.
“So are we dating then?” she asks in an arch tone. “Or am I still getting paid for our week of sin together?”
I merely pull her curvy form back into my arms before seizing her sweet pout in a deep kiss.
“I’m happy to pay you for as long as you want, sweetheart. But yes, we are absolutely dating for real. I want your body, your heart, your mind, and everything that comes with the beautiful Roberta Cross.”
With that, I claim the curvy girl as mine for good because this is how it was meant to be. Maybe in the beginning, I had nothing but a dalliance in mind. After all, it’s not every day that a Miss Millbrook lands on your doorstep, desperate and needy. But now, after everything that’s happened, I know that Rocky is much more than just a fling. She’s a sharp, intelligent woman with a solid head on her shoulders, and I couldn’t ask for more. This curvy girl is my everything, and I thank my lucky stars that we met because our questionable circumstances have become legitimate, and now, I’m claiming the beautiful brunette as mine for good.
EPILOGUE
Rocky
It’s been a few months since Ursula tried to destroy my life, and I have no idea what that witch is up to now. Obviously, she lost her job in addition to her so-called dating life. But other than that, who knows? She might still be living in Millbrook, or maybe she’s moved on. I don’t know, and I don’t care because I’m pregnant now, and over the moon with happiness.
I sit back on the couch with a tin of sardines in hand. Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I’ve craved the salty little fish, even if it’s kind of gross that I eat them straight from the container.
“Nasty,” Logan growls with a laugh as he enters our living room. After we declared our love for one another, I moved into his mansion and gave up my apartment. It’s really nice because obviously, his place is ten times the size of mine, and Logan lets me have free rein of the manor. Hell, he even lets me manage the staff now because he says I do a better job.
“Your child loves sardines,” I giggle. I hold one slimy fish up by its tail, dangling it before him. “You sure you don’t want one? They’re delicious.”
He pretends to gag. “I think I’ll save those for you and the baby. I wouldn’t want to detract from my child’s nutrition in any way.”
I laugh. “I know, it’s gross. I’m sorry my cravings are so weird.”
Logan kisses my cheek even as his nose wrinkles at the smell. “Don’t apologize, sweetheart. I love every second of it, and I can’t wait to meet our baby.”
