I sensed Luca closer now and glanced up, one hand on my shawl, the other on my belly as he stalked closer. His eyes were always on me, and I felt that familiar rush consume me.
He was only about ten feet from me when he shifted midstep, never missing a beat, his massive—gloriously naked—human form coming closer and closer until I felt his heat and inhaled his concentrated scent. His clothing sat on one of the patio chairs beside me, neatly folded as he’d taken them off before he’d went for his run.
A moan left me at how good he made me feel, and he didn’t even have to touch me.
He pulled me close when he was within reach, crushing me to his body, but gentle and mindful of my belly. And as he held me close, I tilted my head to the side and felt him run the tip of his nose up and down my neck as he scented me.
A low rumble left his chest, and the vibrations speared through me. A soft sound left me, and I clutched onto his biceps. My wedding ring caught the light and sparkled, the diamond obscenely large and not normally a Lycan custom, but then again, Luca insisted he wanted to cover all customary bases, even if they were human.
“My Ainslee,” he groaned and dropped to his haunches, pushing up my shirt and framing his large hands around my belly. Even though I was very clearly pregnant, his palms dwarfed my belly. “My little one,” he whispered and leaned in to kiss my stomach.
I ran my fingers through his thick, short hair and smiled when the baby kicked lightly against one of his palms. He chuckled softly but deeply.
“You always have that effect on him,” I whispered. The scent of our son was easily noticeable, even by my lacking Otherworld senses. He smelled just like Luca, which told me he’d probably be a spitting image of his father.
I continued to run my fingers through his hair as he showered my bare belly with kisses.
“It’s only because he can tell I’ll be strict with him, making sure he’s respectful and won’t give his mother a hard time.”
I grinned and cupped his face, stroking my thumbs along his flesh and forcing him to look up at me. “You know you’re going to be so smitten with this little guy you’ll let him walk all over you.” I chuckled when he groaned and nodded.
“You’re right, per usual.” He stood and pulled me into a hug again, and I rested my head on his chest, hearing the strong beat of his heart beneath my ear.
“I love you,” I whispered and tipped my head back, rose on my toes, and curled my hands around his neck. I pulled him down for a kiss, one that was supposed to be gentle and swift, but like they always did, it turned heated and passionate.
I found myself in his arms seconds later, my mate cradling me to his chest as he took us into our home, up the stairs, and right to our room.
“Aren't you hungry?” I breathed as he gently set me on the bed and took a step back. “I made lunch.” My voice was whisper-soft as my arousal took up residence.
He took another step back, this feral look on his face.
“Oh, I’m starving, mate.” His voice was that sexy purr he got when he was turned on. “But I’m only hungry for one thing, sweetling.”
My breath caught, and my heart hiccuped.
“And that’s for what’s between those pretty thighs of yours.” He growled, and his eyes flashed. “So how about you get undressed and show your mate all that gorgeous flesh?” He lifted one eyebrow. “Or I can do what I want and tear the material from you.”
A shiver wracked my body as I whispered, “You like when I tease you nice and slow.”
He growled, “My Ainslee.” He took a step forward. “Let me sate my hunger by getting my fill between your legs.”
I felt my own wolf rise up, my emotions rising like a tidal wave. I gripped the edge of my shirt and lifted it up and over my head, then went for my pants. And all the while, Luca looked at me like he was starving.
“You are mine.”
Yes. Yes, I was.
And just like that… lunch was forgotten.
The End.
