He beams. “I would love that.”
Sam pulls closer to me. I put my arm around her shoulders, taking in the chaos all around me. Raul’s watching Madison from afar and winks when he catches my eye. Allie’s squealing over a pamphlet of bridesmaid’s dresses, while Toni shows Sam’s grandparents her bedroom.
“It’s all perfect,” she whispers. “So damn perfect.”
I hold her to me. A month ago, I had my quiet and peace. And a beautiful, perfectly empty house. Now, everything’s changed.
“Who knew a couple of smoothies and some undercover sleuths could unearth something like this, huh?” Sam says.
I hold her to me. “Who knew, baby.”
“Who knew we could melt that glacial heart of yours?”
“Now, wait—”
“Or soothe that grumpy little pucker between your brows?”
I feel my forehead, frowning. “There’s no pucker!”
“Because it’s gone,” she says triumphantly.
I turn her around, bend her back, and brush her lips with mine. “Guess I just needed a little someone to unravel me.”
“Is that supposed to be sexy?”
“No, baby,” I whisper, turning my back to the others so they don’t see me pulling her in for a deeper kiss. “This is.”
She gives me a sloppy, mid-kiss grin and whispers, “I love you.”
