If it were any other person in this entire world who tried to put their foot down on anything involving my wife, they would have the choice to either retract their statement and apologize profusely, or they would suddenly find themselves with a hospital bill that would take them the rest of their lifetime to pay off.

But this is Abraham.

This is my hetero life partner, as Savannah likes to call him.

This is the only human who has ever stuck by me for most of the years I’ve been alive.

Not only that, but I can’t forget he wasn’t just my roommate for over a decade. He was Savannah’s for almost all of that time too. Every day, becoming the family we chose and were there for, for every good moment and bad moment that all added up to an amount of time most people don’t even stay married. To me, that’s a big fucking deal, seeing as a marriage is both a legal contract and a vow to a higher power. For our friendship to last this long and be this important, this unshakeable… that is the one and only reason he gets to make such a demand.

And it’s the one and only reason I also give him one firm nod and hold my hand out across the small table. “Agreed,” I state, my voice strong.

His shoulders relax and he sighs, and then he slaps my hand loudly as he takes it in a tight grip. He doesn’t let go as he narrows his eyes on me. “You do realize that there’s a good chance this desire of yours will never be fulfilled, because it will take one hell of a fucking man to be deemed good enough for our girl, right?”

I chuckle, pumping his hand up and down once before letting it go, then rest my elbows on the table. “If that’s the case, then I can live without it. I won’t make any exceptions or just settle for the sake of getting to have the experience. Like I told her, the whole point, the entire reason for wanting to make it a reality, is to give her an exponential amount of pleasure. It will have to be a very special man to get past all the walls Savannah has built up around her to keep out anyone who is not me.”

When I glance up from my hands, he’s shaking his head at me slowly, his face one of awe and confusion.

“What?” I prompt, my brow furrowing.

“How you said that last part with a sigh of regret is just… mind-boggling to me. To have a woman willingly place herself in a self-imposed fortress with only one key, and that key belongs to you…?” He shakes his head again but then raises his eyebrows and lets out a snort of astonishment. “I don’t think I’ll ever understand what you’re feeling by feeling it myself. I don’t think that emotion—what did you call it?”

“Compersion,” I supply.

“Yeah, compersion. I don’t think I got that upgrade,” he tells me, shoving his hand through his blonde hair as he relaxes all the way back in his chair, his knees spreading wide as he gets comfortable.

I chuckle again, standing and stretching before adjusting my semi-hard cock. “Nah, I hadn’t ever felt it before either, not until Savannah. Must be an aftermarket update or some shit.”

CHAPTER NINE

SAVANNAH

I slept like the absolute dead last night. I haven’t slept that well in… hell, longer than I can remember. Even before New Year’s Eve. For a couple years before then, I was stressed because of work, trying to make enough to pay off student loans, keep us fed, and save for our future, while both Roman and Bram worked just as hard trying to get their company off the ground. Then, when it finally came to “you have to spend money to make money,” they sat me down and asked me to invest in their business. I didn’t even have to think about it—I believed in their software for small businesses, having seen it work flawlessly over and over after they tweaked it to perfection.

Long story short, I took an easy gamble and gave them a few thousand dollars out of my savings account that I’d been building up with a vigor I probably would’ve burnt out from not long after that. I didn’t have to wait and see that happen though. Mere weeks after transferring the cash to their business account, I checked my balance when I got a notification from my banking app to find a deposit double what I had sent them.

It was their dramatic but cute way to inform me whatever they used it for—which they tried to explain to me, but once Bram started talking marketing jargon and ad keyword something or other, I spaced out—it worked. They sold a crazy amount those first few weeks thanks to the advertisement, and then by word of mouth, sales of their original software still haven’t stopped. On top of that, they now create customized programs for major companies, providing their skills to design everything from websites to the computer programs needed to run an entire huge corporation.
