He kept his hand there, firm, restraining me.
My hips pushed up, restless, needful, trying to present myself to him as much as I could.
When his cock pressed against my entrance, I let out a sound of need, of pleasure.
“What do you want, Sariah?” he asked in a sexy rasp.
“I want you.”
His hand bit into my hip. “You want my cock, or you want me?”
“Both,” I answered without thinking. “Please.”
“You begging me to fuck you, to make you mine?”
“Yes.” I was half mad with need. Nothing else mattered.
“That’s my good girl,” he grunted, and then he was inside.
Not gently.
Brutally.
I came the second his cock filled me up.
He spent the rest of the evening fucking me so hard, I barely remembered my own name. The only thing I did remember was that I was his.
COLBY
She fell asleep quickly.
Which made sense.
One glimpse at her, even drunk in a dingy bar, I could see exhaustion etched into her features. I could see what had been drained out of her. Everything. Everything I knew about her. Everything I loved about her.
Even with all of that, she still lit up that fucking place. She still burned bright, even if the flame was lower. It was my job to stoke the fire, protect it and try my best to make her burn like she did before.
I’d known that was going to be hard from the second we found her in that warehouse. I knew that it would be my life’s fucking mission the second I saw her curled up, chained up, covered in blood. Knew it every time I looked into her eyes after that. It scared the shit out of me. The emptiness there.
I saw Alyssa in her in many ways. Both were strong, smart and intent on not letting anyone know how much she was struggling. Wanted to protect people from their pain.
And that fucking terrified me.
Every moment of looking for her, I half expected to find her body. Not because she wasn’t strong. Fuck, she was the strongest person I’d ever met. But strength had nothing to do with it. There was only so much a person could take. Even the strongest person in the world.
She clung to me in her sleep tighter than she ever had while she was awake. I could see her trying to create distance between us, trying to push me away. Fuck, I understood it. I would give her anything she wanted, anything she needed … except distance from me.
I didn’t want to sleep because I didn’t want to lose a moment with her in her arms. I didn’t know what the future was going to bring, but I knew her sleeping in my arms wasn’t in it. Sariah was going to continue to fight this, try to push me away.
She’d already given me the best fucks I’d had in my goddamn life. Having her bent over the bed, watching her ass redden underneath her palm, feeling her fucking soaking for me … Jesus. My cock twitched just thinking of it.
But the physical stuff was never our problem. That was beyond our control. Whatever chemicals or pheromones drew people to each other, we had them tenfold. But as much as I wanted to, I couldn’t use sex to bring her back.
Moving slowly so I wouldn’t wake her—even though she was deeply asleep—I got my phone from the nightstand, dialing.
It was late there, but I knew she was waiting for my call.
“Colby,” Violet spoke urgently. “You found her.”
I stroked her hair. “I found her.”
“And she’s okay?”
“Baby?” I heard from the background.
“Shhh,” Violet scolded Elden. “I’m talking to Colby, he found her. Is she okay?” she asked me.
My eyes ran over the frown Sariah wore, even in her sleep, I felt how strained her body was, muscles tensed as if she were ready to run, or ready for a blow.
“She’s gonna be okay,” I told her.
“You’re going to bring her home.” It wasn’t a question.
Violet and I had kept in contact whenever I was on the road following Sariah’s trail. We both had the goal of getting her back to Garnett, back to the people who loved her, cared about her.
I’d been prepared to drag her there if need be. As time went on, I’d gotten more desperate, my mind too focused on getting her back to where I could keep her safe. But after finding her, I was beginning to understand that dragging her back to Garnett might be the quickest way to lose her.
She’d been chained, literally, by a man who altered the course of her life. I wasn’t going to do that to her.
“I don’t think she’s ready for that,” I answered Violet honestly.
There was a long pause. Violet loved Sariah. And Sariah loved her back. I knew that her absence was only because of some kind of warped perception she had that she was saving Violet the grief of watching her unravel. I knew Violet understood that too.
