“Fuck fuck fuck,” he chants when he rips his mouth from mine. I cry out his name as he comes right along with me.
Bo collapses on top of me. I yank at my wrists.
“Let me go.”
“Never.” He kisses my shoulder.
“I want to touch you.”
“You’re lucky if I untie you in a week.”
“Bo.” A small giggle leaves me.
“Thought I might never hear that sound again.” He lifts his head to meet my gaze. “I’ve never been so scared in my fucking life, Elsa.” Those words take my breath away. This big bad man, who is feared by so many, was scared out of his mind.
“Untie me, please,” I beg, needing to touch him more than I need my next breath. I want to comfort him, to show him that I’m not going anywhere. “I need to touch you.” He continues to stare at me as though taking his eyes off me for even a second will cause me to disappear. “Please, husband.” I try a new tactic, knowing how much he loves when I call him that.
It does the trick. Within seconds, Bo reaches up, freeing my wrists. He rests his back against the headboard of the bed, pulling me into his lap. I move to straddle him, wanting us to be face to face. I trace my finger down his face, his head leaning into my touch but his eyes never leaving mine.
“I…” He goes to speak, but I put my finger over his lips to quiet him. He’s said enough. It’s my turn. He gives me a slight smile as though he’s amused that I essentially shushed him. I’m sure it’s not something he’s used to.
“It’s my turn. I’m sorry I ran. I was scared out of my mind when I saw the pictures of me and my family on the news. For so long it’s been ingrained in me that I had to hide who I really was from everyone to protect not only myself but my sister and dad.”
“Not any longer. I’ll protect you.” I lean in to kiss him when his phone starts to go off.
“I have to get this.” I nod, wiggling back enough to give him room to grab it. There is a whole lot going on right now. All of it makes my head spin. Bo answers it.
“You have her?” I hear the person ask. Bo’s eyes stay locked on mine.
“I do,” he responds.
“Hand her over, Knight.” Bo’s whole body tenses.
“Sorry, but this little ace is mine,” he says before he ends the call, tossing his phone on the bed.
“What the hell was that?”
“Easton Ledger.” My mouth falls open. “Your sister is safe, and your father has already been picked up from the house.”
“Easton?” I shouldn’t be shocked. I was shocked when I thought he was getting married. But this, not so much.
“Are we in danger?”
“We’re going to go away for a few days.”
“That’s not answering my question.”
“I owe you a honeymoon. I know an island that you’re going to love. By the time we return, there won’t be any danger.” I swallow.
“What does that mean, Bo?”
He cups my face. “I won’t lie to you, Ace, but don’t ask questions you don’t really want to know the answers to.”
“Okay,” I agree instantly. I can tell my quick response surprises him. “I know who the man is that I fell in love with. I’m not here to change you.”
“But you already have.” He turns, flipping me onto my back. I wrap my legs around him. Others may fear Bo. They look at him and only see dark or maybe even their end.
All I see is my Knight in shining armor. A man willing to lay the world at my feet. My own wonderland.
EPILOGUE
BOWEN
Many Years Later
Easton takes a sip of his scotch, neither of us saying a word to the other. We’re in some swanky cigar lounge just trying to pass the time. I check my watch.
“It’s been five minutes.” Easton drops his empty glass down on the table.
“Fuck me.” I pick mine up and shoot it back in one shot.
“Did you just drink a five-hundred-dollar drink in one gulp?” I shrug, enjoying the burn.
It’s a mild distraction. Easton chuckles. A cocktail waitress comes over, taking our empty glasses and replacing them with another without us asking.
“Why did we agree to this?” I grumble. Fuck, it might even be a damn pout, honestly. What has my woman done to me? I smirk, thinking of many things she has done to me. Most importantly, the things I’ve done to her. I reach down and adjust my slacks. My cock gets hard as if I didn’t fuck Ace before she slipped out of the door for her girls’ night. One that I obviously wasn’t too keen about. But I knew she and her sister, Melody, needed some time alone. This was the first time neither one of them wasn’t pregnant or nursing at the same time.
