“God, I want you inside me,” she cried out, pulling him upward toward her.
He resisted, continuing his maddening assault on her dripping folds as she squirmed beneath him. He thought she might pass out. Her nails dug ferociously into his back, driving him crazy. The vibrations seemed to send shockwaves down her legs. They quivered visibly as she shattered into yet another climax.
“Incredible,” he whispered against her skin as he dragged his lips up her stomach and across her breasts, taking his time sucking and biting at them, prolonging the ache he felt for her. His mouth covered hers as he moved up to kiss her, exploring her deeply with his tongue and slowly slipping inside her. She felt amazing as their bodies rocked back and forth in a mating ritual as old as time itself.
Pulling away from her mouth, he sank his teeth into her neck, causing her to cry out. It only encouraged him as he plunged deeper into the center, grinding his hips against hers with each thrust. They were like a single entity in motion as they met each other’s body violently, their passion taking on a new life as Jo’s cries of ecstasy sounded in perfect harmony with King’s moans of pleasure. His staying power was incredible, lasting for what felt like hours. She lost count of how many times she had climaxed before he sank into her one last time, filling her with a warm flood of orgasmic bliss.
They lay there in the aftermath, her head resting on his chest as he stroked her hair. Neither of them spoke for a while, but it was King who finally broke the blissful silence.
“That was amazing,” he breathed into her hair.
“Yes, it was,” she replied, as she faded back into the gray of sleep.
The following morning, she was woken up by the sounds of clanging pans and made her way to the kitchen to find King making a quick breakfast of toaster waffles, bacon and eggs.
“Orange juice?” he asked.
“That would be great,” she replied, taking the seat he pulled out for her and accepting the glass from him once he had filled it from a carton in the fridge.
“I think we did well last night. Very believable. You can head back home after breakfast and I will see you again on Friday night. I’ll pick you up and we’ll go to the bar together, stay a while and then leave together again.”
“Sounds like a plan,” she said dismissively, quickly finishing her breakfast. She was eager to get home.
King walked her out to her car and kissed her softly on the lips in case anyone was lurking about the woods that might see. She smiled and climbed inside, starting it up and leaving. It was weird to think of the woods around his house being full of prying eyes and wondered why that didn’t bother him, but she suspected there was a lot about him she didn’t and never would understand.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
The following day, Trey called Holly to try and clarify matters, but came away even more confused than before. He said Holly claimed to be trying to support Jo’s cause but felt that there was nothing she could do if the still-unidentified other buyers were offering more money.
Jo wasn’t sure of what to do. It was true that her offer had been extremely low. Maybe she had gone down too far, and Mr. Turner was now regretting that he had accepted it. Perhaps he was trying, via Holly, to make up lost ground. Or maybe the brother had balked and was trying to put a kabash on the deal.
After a day or two of hesitation, during which she heard nothing from Holly, Jo called her back.
"Is he still out of town?" she asked.
"He hasn't called," said Holly obliquely.
"Can't his company tell you?"
"Oh, I never call people at their office. I used his mobile number. Anyway, I went past his apartment last night, and I didn't see any lights."
"Where does he live?" Jo asked.
"Stratford Arms,” she said and then, “Crap. I shouldn't have told you that."
Jo paused to assess this remark. Holly was far too experienced in the art of discretion to make a mistake like that. Could this be a sign that she really was on her side?
"Let me know when he gets back," Jo said.
Jo went by the location on her way home from errands that night. It was of little use. Stratford Arms was a gated high-rise. There was nothing to be learned from a drive by stalking. She picked up her phone, realizing he had called her directly, but the number was listed as unknown.
Just then, a call from Trey came through.
"Jo, I just had a brilliant idea. Call Turner’s lawyer and ask her for his number."
"Will she give it to me?" Jo asked dubiously.
