Yev slid on top of him, panting as the hurry that drove him so far died, but he remained a gentleman and didn’t squash Radek with his full weight.

The room was so quiet now. And while Radek still felt the burn of lust at the back of his mind, it remained bearable as he came down from the sex.

Yev raised his head to look at him, face partially in the shadow, but moonlight revealed the bleeding bite mark. When had Radek’s teeth gotten so sharp? He now realized the coppery flavor of Yev’s blood was still on his tongue.

“Uh… I’m sorry,” Radek mumbled, still panting. He wouldn’t let go of Yev though, floating on the plush clouds of love. His brain was again able to recognize that a past and future existed as well as the now.

Yev hummed and nuzzled his cheek, protecting Radek from the cool air with his own body while the knot tied them together. It would have been embarrassing if Emil asked to enter the bedroom now, but Radek chose not to think about it.

“It feels nice. Such sharp, sharp teeth,” Yev said and pinched Radek’s chin with a self-satisfied smile. “Better?”

“Yes.” Radek felt tears slide down his temples, but Yev was there to lick them away. “I don’t know what came over me. I don’t even think it’s over,” he whispered, because while the buzz under his skin has cooled, it was definitely still there.

Yev stroked Radek’s head. “It’s fox mating season. Seems it affects you as well.”

Radek groaned and banged his head against the floor. “Fuck my life. I can’t take a month of this. I’ve actually… always been hornier about February or March. But never like this. My friend, Iga, she laughs that I get a February Itch. Wasn’t that far from the truth, then.”

Yev sighed. “I think it’ll only be a couple of days. But if it’s so bad, you can’t stay here,” he whispered, petting Radek with the back of his hand with the gentlest, most soothing strokes imaginable.

“How do you know? Do werewolves go through this too?” Radek barely remembered the issues that had driven them apart when he looked into Yev’s eyes, feeling as safe as a fox in its den when Yev’s cock was deep inside him.

Yev smirked and pressed his cheek to Radek’s. “That’s how I feel on the full moon. I suppose it’s not as intense if I have no one to focus on, but I get incredibly horny and all I want is to fuck in the moonlight. Or eat someone, so fucking is the preferable option.”

Cogs clicked into place. “Oh. So that first time we—okay. That makes sense.” Radek shifted under Yev to get more comfortable, since they’d remain tied for a good twenty minutes. “Yev?” he asked as doubt slowly snaked its way into his skull, making his heart beat faster.

“Hm? What is it Ember?” Yev asked and kissed Radek’s nose with so much tenderness it ripped holes in Radek’s heart.

“I don’t want anyone else. Ever. If it means we only meet once a year, I’ll take that.” He sniffed, overcome by the emotions he’d been holding in since his meltdown a few days back.

Yev stilled, but his throat worked as he swallowed, never looking away, as if Radek was the only person he cared about in the whole wide world. “I want to be with you as frequently as possible.”

It was good enough. It had to be.

Radek nodded quickly, running his hand over Yev’s warm back. “We’ll make it work.” No one else would be able to understand him the way Yev did. If he could have that one constant in his life, he’d survive, regardless of what he was.

Yev nodded. “You. Me. And Coal. I got used to you being there. The house is so empty now.”

“And I’ll have Coal with me when you’re away. I’ll stay with you for as long as you’re here, and once you leave, we’ll work something out.”

Yev had never said the l-word back, but he proved his feelings with actions, and that was more than enough.

Yev smiled, pushing his face into the crook of Radek’s neck, closing him in a hug while they rested, waiting for the knot to shrink.

"And you always have to come to me when I'm in heat," Radek whispered.

Yev chuckled. "I will. Don't want you humping a tree."

"It's not funny."

Chapter 24 – Yev

Yev dug his heels into the mattress and slid his palms up Radek’s thighs, past his hips, all the way to his stomach, which worked tirelessly as the beautiful boy greedily took in Yev’s cock. The sun peeking through the window played with Radek’s hair, turning the strands into gold thread framing the serene features. The eyes that were only halfway open. The flush so dark it rendered freckles invisible. The mouth already plump from kissing.
