And finally, the world stalls for a moment before I clamp my mouth down on his shoulder to keep from screaming as I explode, murmuring, “Oh, God! Yes. Yes, fuck!” And he keeps going, not letting up on his thundering pace and deep plunges inside my pulsing pussy.

I grip him tight with my hands, holding onto him like my life depends on it, and my legs wrap around his back, which I use to lift myself into his thrusts. I want him to come. I need to make him feel as good as he did me, so I work my hips like never before. He growls into my breasts as his hold on me tightens, and finally he comes, spilling deep inside me.

When we catch our breath several minutes later, he slides out of me and makes his way into the en suite bathroom. I hear him pulling out drawers and opening cabinets, but I can't even find the energy to care. Finally, he returns to the bed with a hot, wet washcloth, and he presses it gently between my legs. It’s then I realize we hadn’t used protection, too caught up in our passion and desperation to finally have each other.

“Win, I—”

He shushes me quietly. “It’s okay, naekkeo. I’m clean and haven’t been with anyone in years,” he whispers, and warmth fills my chest.

I nod. “I’m clean too. But… I’m not on birth control. I… I haven’t had a reason since I separated….” I trail off, not wanting to bring up another man after what we just shared.

The look he gives me, dark and hot as he bites his lower lip and glances at my belly then back up to my eyes, makes me shudder. “Whatever happens is meant to be, baby. You’re mine now. And while it wouldn’t be the absolute opportune time to put my baby in you, mark my words that I will make it happen in the near future, God willing.”

I can’t hold in the gasp at the seriousness of his tone. It leaves no room for argument, and I find myself not wanting to anyway.

Instead, all I reply with is a squeaked “Five kids.”

He smirks. “It’s adorable you think I’d want to stop at only one more.” He finishes cleaning me up and then stands, his brows furrowing. “Plus, you have a history of twins.” And then he grins when my eyes widen.

“Do not wish that evil on me again. Especially now that I’m ten years older than the last time I carried two babies at once. It was bad enough when I was a young, spry thing. I’ve heard pregnancy in your thirties is its own special form of torture,” I tell him, backing up to the headboard before sticking my legs under the covers and scooting down.

“When you were a young, spry thing? I’m a decade older than you. What does that make me?” He lifts a brow.

I bite my lip then give him what I hope is a sexy smile. “The hottest cradle robber I know.”

He tosses the rag into the bathroom and climbs into bed under the covers with me, adjusting me how he wants until his front is molded to my back. “I’ll sneak out before your girls wake up, but nothing could make me leave you before dawn,” he says, and I relax in his arms, tension I didn’t realize I was holding in my muscles gone at his statement.

I just nod, suddenly too exhausted to give him a verbal response, and for the first time in ages, I fall into a deep, dreamless, wonderful sleep.

Cece

A few afternoons later, my doorbell rings, and my brows furrow. I’m not expecting anyone else. Mom and Chaz are here, and Mia is still at work. I stand up from where I’m sitting next to Ruby at the new kitchen table my parents got us this morning while I was at work. A surprise that made my heart squeeze, since it’s one step closer to some type of “normal,” not having to eat picnic style on the floor once again.

I look through the peephole and see a man in a black polo shirt and wraparound sunglasses, and when he pulls them up on top of his head, I see it’s Officer Jameson. I open the door, greeting him with a weary smile. “Good evening, officer. Is everything all right?”

“There’s a situation. I don’t want to alarm you, but may I come in to discuss it with you?” he asks, and I nod, stepping back to let him in. “Is there somewhere we can speak without the kids hearing? And your parents will need to hear this as well.”

My heart starts to accelerate. What could possibly be going on? And then my stomach plummets. “Officer, is my sister okay? You’re scaring me,” I tell him, and his face looks regretful.
