“Well, that would explain how she kicked Weasel’s ass.”

“That it would,” he agrees.

“The second was a boy who Ivan told me had Down Syndrome.”

“I don’t think I need to research anymore. I’m thinking I need a meeting with Ivan.”

“I’ll see what I can arrange,” E-Z responds. “Are you going to let your woman know that you are aware of her secrets?”

“Not yet. I’m pretty sure that’s not all of them.”

“What more could there be?”

“I don’t know, but I will say I’m worried it’s dangerous. She told me that evil stalks her footsteps.”

“Well, shit.”

“You can say that again,” I agree.

“You know, Ghost, we might want to ask ourselves why she was wasting time with Weasel to be near the clubhouse.”

“Trust me, that’s something I’ve been thinking about nonstop since I found out,” I admit with a sigh.

We sit there in silence for a bit, then we get up and go into the other room. I may know a lot more than I did about my woman, but I’m convinced I’m still missing something vital. I just hope I find out what it is in time to shield my woman and protect her.

Chapter 16

Lennox

“Hey, Len.”

I turn around to see Weasel and Iron walking toward me. I don’t show it, but I’m instantly tense and have my guard up. It has been a week since I agreed to stay with Ghost. I’m pretty sure I’ve made a huge mistake—mostly because I’ve never been happier. I’ve even begun justifying all the reasons not to seek revenge on the Titans.

“What do you want?”

Weasel holds up his hands in surrender. “I’m just here to apologize. I was an ass and I’m sorry.”

“You were,” I mutter.

“Can we be friends?”

“I don’t see the point,” I say with a shrug. “But if you leave me alone and keep my name out of your mouth, I won’t find you when you are sleeping and gut you like a fish.”

Iron laughs, but I can see that Weasel is getting pissed. He manages to tap it down, but it’s still there on his face. “Word is you’re living with Ghost these days. I guess you decided to climb up the club vine,” he grumbles.

“I see you didn’t learn from yesterday. There was no club vine. You and I were never an item and were never going to be. Get over it.”

“You bi—”

Iron clamps his hand down on Weasel’s shoulder. “I believe you have work assigned, Prospect. I wouldn’t be picking fights with an old lady unless I wanted trouble.”

“Old lady,” he scoffs. “Ghost will show her to the door any day. He never keeps a woman.”

“I'll inform him about your feelings and make sure it's known in the club,” Iron says. I almost smile at the fear I see on Weasel’s face. He leaves after that, and I take in a breath. I really am starting to hate that guy. “Sorry about that, Lennox.”

“No worries,” I dismiss, wishing Ghost would hurry. I’m not comfortable here—even if I’m slowly giving up the hunger for revenge. It was grief fueling it, mostly. There’s no one here to get revenge on. Shadow and Bones hated one another. He never had any dealings in the plot to screw over Ivan and his brothers. Iron is the only other one involved. I never met him, but I know Bones called him often to get him to do some grunt work. That doesn’t mean he was in on everything, though. Bones was his president at the time. He was probably just doing club business for Bones.

“You look familiar, Lennox. I know Weasel said you just moved here, but are you originally from Phoenix?”

“Nope, never set foot here before. I only came because I had a big contract, and it needed some hands-on work. That’s concluded now.”

“What do you do?” he asks. My guard instantly goes up. I could be wrong, but it feels like he’s fishing for information. I shake my head, knowing he probably is. I’d say Ghost put him up to it. I could almost roll my eyes.

“I’m a web designer.”

“A techie like Ghost. I guess it makes sense that a hot chick like you would give him the time of day, I guess.”

“I didn’t know he was a techie. I just like his dick,” I mutter, annoyed beyond belief now. Iron laughs, but it sounds kind of fake to me. I shake it off. I’m just annoyed with the world today. Still, that was a shitty thing to say about his brother in the club. Ghost is everything a woman could want. He’s everything I want.

“Is that so?” I turn to look at Ghost and roll my eyes. It keeps surprising me how he can sneak up on me like he does.

“Don’t get the big head,” I mutter, as he takes me in his arms, practically lifting me off my barstool. “You’re late.” I wrap my arms around him and bury my head in his chest.
