“Then I’m going to bow out because I want something more. Or at least the possibility of something more. I’ve been a good time for a lot of women. It gets old. Very, very old. All the things you feel about not having ties that would keep you in one place? I feel the same way and I’m sick of it. So while I know society tells you that men like me and Hale should take any sex we can get and shrug and walk away in the morning, I don’t think we’re those guys anymore. You’re a couple of years too late.”
Hale turned the corner and started walking up at the absolute worst time. “I don’t think she’s too late.”
Elisa’s expression had gone blank as she turned to Hale. “He was telling me he wasn’t interested in being my personal stress relief for the evening.”
Hale stopped, and Van could see his brain working, trying to figure out what had gone wrong because it had seemed to be going right mere moments before. Had he read her wrong? He’d thought they were on the same page, but she seemed to be pulling back now.
“Is that all you said you wanted?” Hale seemed to find the problem. Likely because they knew each other so well.
“I asked if that was all I did want, would he still want to come in.” She hadn’t put it exactly like that, but Van didn’t need her to say the exact words.
“And he said no.” Hale took a deep breath and slid his hands into his pockets as though he needed them there so he wouldn’t reach out for her. “Elisa, it was so good to meet you. If you change your mind, well, we’re always around.”
Elisa groaned. “Damn it, I said something weird and I got self-conscious and I’m not good at this. I don’t even know why I’m arguing.”
“It’s okay if you’re not ready.” His dick would curse him, but some things were more important than his dick. “We’ll back off and if you find that you are ready, you can call us because we’ll be waiting.”
She moved in, her body bumping against his. “I felt vulnerable and I threw up a wall. It’s something I always do. It’s something I’m done with. I was vulnerable because I’m worried you’ll look at my scars and you won’t want me.”
He reached up, putting a hand on either side of her face. “I will want you. He’ll want you. We might want you more than is comfortable for you.”
“Comfort is overrated,” she said quietly. “Would you kiss me? When Hale kissed me I didn’t feel like it was all going to go wrong.”
That he could do. He lowered his mouth to hers, bringing them together with a tenderness he hadn’t felt in a long time. Even with the snow falling all around him, he felt warm, and it wasn’t all about his dick. Something infinitely warm seemed to flow through his veins.
This. This was what he’d wanted to explore.
She pulled back slightly, her face flushed and lips curling up. “Okay. I kissed two guys tonight and it felt good, and I don’t feel dirty about it.”
“You shouldn’t.” Hale was behind her, getting her in between them for the first time. “There’s nothing dirty about it. Not on an emotional level. Sex is inherently…”
He did not need a lecture on hygiene. “Amazing, and that’s all it’s going to be between us.”
Her eyes lit with obvious amusement. “Was he going to talk about how dirty sex could be on a sexy level? Or a cleanliness level?”
“Sexy level,” Hale insisted. “Totally sexy level.”
Liar, but he was Van’s partner, and he was supposed to back him up. “I’m absolutely certain he wasn’t going to talk about bodily fluids. He was going to talk about how good we want to make you feel. He was talking about how gloriously filthy all the things we want to do to you are.”
“I was talking about how you’re going to be surrounded by us.” Hale picked up on the vibe. “There’s not going to be an inch of you we don’t touch and stroke and kiss.” Hale’s hands were on her hips as he leaned in, whispering in her ear. “And we’ll love every part of you. There’s nothing to worry about or feel self-conscious about. Your scars will be every bit as lovely as you are.”
“Let that worry float away. I want you to think only about whether you like what we’re doing or not,” Van continued. “If something doesn’t feel good, tell us. I’m going to tell you some of the things I like. I like kissing, but I’m also going to want to get my mouth on your pussy at some point.”
Her breath caught, and that was when he realized Hale’s hands had moved up and were right under her breasts.
