“Let's do it.”

We raced three more times. On the next two trips, I acted as Skyler’s personal guard. Anytime another driver got close to him, I bumped them into the wall. So many drivers skidded out of control that I was given a warning by the ride operator for my aggressiveness. I didn't care.

Especially because my point was made; in our final race, no one dared to get close to Skyler. Everyone kept a wide berth, and my beloved won easily. His proud smile was the best part of the whole afternoon.

“I don't know about you, but all that racing action got me hungry for a snack,” Skyler said as we walked back to his car. “Do you feel like having more sugar?”

“Of course,” I answered with a chuckle.

He drove us to a nearby ice cream parlor, where he sampled at least a dozen flavors before settling on cherry chocolate chip. I stuck with vanilla, which was plenty sweet enough for me. It seemed that everything had gotten more saccharine over time.

But I still enjoyed the treat, especially when Skyler and I fed one another bites, and shared kisses, conversation, and laughter. I never dreamed that there would be a day when I could be so open with my fun and affection for my mate, but I didn’t want it any other way. I needed every smile and touch like I needed air.

Once we finished our snack, Skyler traced his finger down my arm and asked, “Are you hungry for more sweetness?”

I hated to disappoint him, but I couldn't eat any more desserts. Just when I was about to answer that I would have to pass, but that I'd happily get him anything he wanted, Skyler leaned in close.

His lips brushed against my ear when he whispered, “It's me; I'm the sweetness. Are you hungry for me?”

I don't remember standing up. The next thing I knew, we were both on our feet and rushing out the front door.

Chapter Eight

Skyler

I drove like a mad man back to the apartment, taking speed limit signs and red lights as suggestions until Viggo begged me to drive more carefully. He said that watching me crash on the go kart course was terrifying enough, and that he couldn't bear the thought of me getting hurt.

That only made me want to get home faster and fuck his brains out sooner, but I pulled it together and followed the rules of the road. I didn’t want to frighten him, and I didn’t want to get hurt either; if I was in a body cast, he couldn’t fuck me. Oh, who am I kidding? I’d find a way to make it happen, even if it meant drilling a hole through that bad boy.

Nothing would stop me from being with Viggo. I craved him in every sense of the word. It wasn’t just the carnal desire of my body; my heart and soul desperately wished to be intertwined with his.

When we finally made it back to the complex, I barely had the car in park when Viggo jumped out. He hurried to the driver’s side and opened my door before easing me out. He took me in his arms and carried me into the building and up the stairs.

I loved when he carried me, even when he wasn’t using his speed. It showcased his strength and made me feel secure. But this time was even more special; I felt like a newlywed being carried over the threshold.

It wasn’t so far off. Once we made love, we would be bound together in a way deeper than any marriage could offer. Our lives would be mingled. We couldn’t survive without one another. And that didn’t scare me one bit; it excited me.

Viggo stepped into the apartment that we would now share. Whether we stayed or moved didn’t matter to me. He told me that home was wherever I was, but for me, Viggo was my home. He was my hope, my happiness, and my fortress.

He placed me on my feet and gazed into my eyes with a mix of need and question. He had told me that he didn’t want to take this next step until I was sure - until I was in love. I wanted to make it clear that there wasn’t a doubt in my mind.

“Viggo, meeting you changed my life. No one has ever wanted me around, or wanted to build a connection with me. They made me question my worth. They told me I was too much or too fiery. But you? You’d burn down the whole fucking world for me.”

He gave a slow nod of agreement and I continued, “But you’re also gentle and peaceful when it’s needed. You’re my equal and my opposite - my sun and my moon. For the first time, it feels like I’m where I’m supposed to be, and with whom I’m supposed to be. We may not know every tiny detail about each other, but we have plenty of time to learn. The most important thing I know is how I feel about you.
