I wanted to tell him that he didn’t need to worry about this place; that he wouldn’t be living here much longer (or at all, if I had my say), but I didn’t want to frighten him. Part of me wanted to do all of the tidying while Ant relaxed, but I also wanted it to be done as soon as possible so we could go somewhere to have a conversation or even have a little fun.
So, we scrubbed, bagged, and cleaned while his asshat roommates remained dead to the world. I even ran a vacuum cleaner (first time for everything) across the carpet, and I really wanted to crash it into one of the guys’ ankles that draped off of the sofa, but I didn’t want Ant to see and get a bad impression of me.
“I don’t know how to thank you guys,” Ant said once we had everything looking spic and span. “This would have taken me all day by myself.”
“It was our pleasure,” Felix smiled back at him. “But there is one thing you can do for us.”
“What is it?”
I cut in to answer, “Come out with us. We’d love to get to know you better.”
Ant chewed on his lip as he looked between us, his roommates, and back. Just when I thought I’d have to lay on the charm to convince him, he gave a tiny nod.
“Great,” Felix beamed. “Please grab a jacket before we go; it’s chilly outside.”
Ant nodded again and hurried from the room. He was hardwired to please and, even if he didn’t know it yet, to listen to his Daddy.
When Ant was out of sight, I held my fist out towards my brother and he bumped his knuckles to mine. We didn’t need words to convey to one another how happy we were, or what this meant to us. I knew Felix’s emotions of excitement and fulfillment matched my own.
And I knew that he was just as lovestruck when Ant came walking back into the room, wearing not only a jacket, but the same bulky scarf he had on the night before. He was bundled up to his chin and couldn’t look more adorable.
Felix opened the front door, receiving a shy smile from Ant. I didn’t want to be outdone, so I ushered him through with a slight bow and motion of my arm. Felix rolled his eyes at my display, but I didn’t care, because I got a sweet smile of my own. Things were already so good with our mate, and they hadn’t even truly begun.
Chapter Five
Ant
My brain was stuck in overdrive, going over the events which led me here; sandwiched between the two hottest men I’d ever met. And while that was far from a bad place to be, I didn’t fully understand it.
When the duo asked me to go with them, I had the overwhelming urge to agree. I didn’t care about anything else; not what my roommates would think, not being there for the inspector’s visit - all that mattered was getting closer to Felix and Enzo. I hadn’t known them long, but I couldn’t stand the thought of not going with them. I felt safe with them; like I could trust them. Besides, two guys who cooked for me and helped me clean the house couldn’t be bad…right?
But what did it all mean? They said they wanted to have a conversation about our ‘shared interests’, but why? Were they just reaching out to someone who looked like he needed help with the situation? Could they tell I was inexperienced, and wanted to give me pointers?
Or was there more to it than that? I got major Daddy vibes from the way they were acting towards me (especially when they worked together to buckle me into the truck), but were they just being friendly? Or was there a spark of interest? But…that couldn’t be the case from both of them…could it?
My stomach knotted with excitement and nerves. While the idea of two suitors was alluring, I couldn’t step between brothers. I would never tear apart that kind of relationship. Oh, get over yourself, Ant; nobody’s fighting over you. I’d never been seen as a prize by anyone. I had to have misread the situation.
All of the thinking was making my head hurt, so I pushed the thoughts away; I’d get answers soon enough. I focused on making myself as small as possible so I wouldn’t accidentally bump into the gorgeous bodies next to me. The last thing they probably wanted was me falling all over them.
There was one question that wouldn’t leave me alone, so I asked, “Where are we going?” Maybe it wasn’t the best idea to get into their truck without even knowing our destination.
“We’re taking you into the woods,” Enzo replied from my right. “So we can have you all to ourselves.” My heart pounded as panic settled into my chest. Nope, not the best idea.
