“I’m looking at it now, but he’s already had his day messed with. Two women from the restaurant just quit.”
“Angel and Naevah?”
“I don’t know their names. They were interested in Turner, but he’s with me, and I guess that set them off and they left the restaurant manager in a bad place.”
“Yep. It’s those two. They’re great at tips, but they weren’t great with hiding their attraction to him. Sorry. He’s a handsome man, and humans don’t understand that he’d never pay them any mind. Of course, not you, but other humans.”
“So you know?”
“I’ve done my research and know more about the Wolfe Creek pack, and so I learned that you worked for the Beta.”
“Wow. You’re a ball of information.”
“That’s my job.” A little cry comes from over the phone. “Sorry, I have to go, but if you have any questions, Turner has my number.”
“Thank you. Take care and rest up.” I hang up, laughing to myself as I go over Turner’s schedule. Daphne’s one damn dedicated assistant. On the desk there’s a notebook named “Notes” for my temporary replacement. I open it up and go to the page with all the temporary logins and sign into the computer.
I open up her emails and check for anything important while I wait for my breakfast to arrive. There’s a new one from a linen company. I open it, and it says the next delivery is delayed a day. Shit. Okay. I read through the notes, and they need it for tomorrow. Luckily, I look at the date on the email and it was sent two days ago, so it should be arriving today instead of yesterday. I go through the emails, wondering why they were ordered so late and then I see there was a three-month delay on the materials.
The phone rings, and I pick it up without thinking it through. “Mr. Turner’s office.”
“Hey, beautiful. What’s wrong?”
“Sorry. I just saw an email that said the towel delivery would be late.”
“Yes. They just arrived. Luckily, this is only another order. We have plenty for the season, but backups are a must.”
“Okay. I’m just getting the hang of things, so try not to freak out when you hear my mental concern. If I need you, I’ll call for you.”
“Fine. Just take it easy.”
“Oh, speaking of relaxing, Daphne called me.”
“Really?”
“Yes. She wanted to check on work and who had taken her place and since I was there, we chatted briefly. She knows I’m a human.”
“I wouldn’t put it past her. She’s excellent for being efficient and very stubborn in her pregnancy.”
“I don’t really mind at all. She told me if I needed anything to give her a call. She doesn’t know how to rest.”
“Nope, that’s her. So I’m almost done with finding a few people to cover the shifts needed until I can hire more staff.”
“Have you eaten?”
“I’ve picked at the food. How about you? Have you touched your food?”
“It hasn’t arrived.”
“What? It was sent up ten minutes ago.”
“Oh goodness.”
“Hold on.” I hear him talking to someone away from the phone. The wheel fell off the cart and the food toppled over. A broken serving cart. I’ll bring you up a meal myself.
“I’ll be up there soon.”
“Bye.” I end the call and go back to working. It takes another ten minutes before Turner’s back, and my stomach is rumbling wildly.
“I’m sorry, baby. I’m proving to be a terrible mate.”
“It’s okay. It’s not a big deal.”
“I could hear your stomach while I was still on the elevator.”
“Are you serious?”
“No. I’m teasing, but I did hear it when I walked in. Here you go.” He opens the lids on the tray and there’s so much more than I originally asked for.
“I can’t finish all of this. I hope some of it is for you.”
“Yes, it is, but I want you to eat as much as you can. We have a busy day, and I still want to sink deep inside of you before bed.”
“Then I better eat up.” I giggle and then take a bite of my egg and sausage wrap. The hash browns are on the side, so I add some salt and pepper and go to town on the food. Turner’s eating more than me, but he’s nearly twice my size and could really use the extra calories, especially after the two days we’ve had together.
“Has it really only been two whole days?”
“Well, a little more than that, but we’re getting closer to the three-day mark by this afternoon. It’s the best three days of my life.”
“I wouldn’t say that. You got into a fight for me.”
“No, it was because I pissed off an idiot and then you had to deal with it. You should be living the life of a queen.”
“A queen is the right hand of her king. You’re a busy man, and so that means you need someone to aid you, and that is me. I don’t mind. It’s been pretty easy this morning. Your assistant had everything ready to go. I’ve only had time to check emails. Your schedule’s here, and it’s already behind. You have a meeting with the housekeeping department and the ski instructors.”
