A squeeze of her hand had her turning toward Tracker, who winked, and she had to swallow down the bubbling of emotion for the second time that morning.

TRACKER HAD NEVER appreciated the brotherhood he’d found in the club more than at that moment. These men were tough as nails, loyal, and understood the meaning of family despite coming from various dysfunctional pasts. Anyone who messed with the family they’d created would find themselves in a living nightmare.

Spec’s inclusion of Jo in their plan had her blinking rapidly and staring down at her sandals. Tracker kept a tight grip on her hand, needing the connection. If she felt the same, she didn’t say anything. Her fingers clenched his in what he hoped was a similar show of need.

“Well, first thing,” he said as he focused on his president. “We need to get Lock the fuck outta here. If the cops can’t find him, they can’t arrest him.”

“Agreed,” Curly said with a nod. “He’s meeting with the baby’s social worker right now, which is why he isn’t here.”

“Probably for the best,” Jinx muttered. “He’s got enough fucking stress right now. I don’t want to tell him about this until we got a solid plan. It’ll fucking kill him if he’s sitting in a cell while his nephew is in the NICU.”

Shit. It really would. “So where do we send him?” Brooke asked with a frown. “I hate the idea of him being somewhere all alone. He’s struggling right now.”

“Hmm…” Tracker scratched his scruff. After spending the night at Jo’s, they’d come straight to the clubhouse, so he hadn’t had a chance to shave. “I might have a place. I got a client coming in later today who has some big swanky beach house in Clearwater. He never fucking uses the place and practically begs me to stay there for a bit whenever I see him. He’d gladly hand the keys right over.”

“That could work,” Jo said as she drummed her fingers on the table. She kept her attention on Curly as she spoke. “It’s not directly affiliated with the club, so it won’t be on the department’s radar.” She switched her attention to Tracker.

He had to gather her in his arms and kiss the hell out of her. Did she have any idea what it meant to him that she wanted to protect his brother? Fuck, it did something to him. He’d had few people go to bat for him in his life. His parents sure hadn’t given a fuck. Neither did teachers, social workers, and sure as fuck, not the cops. Until he met the men in this club, his mentor, Julian, had been his only constant. The only person he’d trusted. It was because of him and his urging Tracker to add more people to his circle of trust, he’d joined the MC and found a small family.

For Jo to have his brother and his club’s backs meant the fucking world to Tracker. It felt like she’d chosen him, and he didn’t take that gift for granted. The second they were alone, he planned on showing her how much her support meant three or four times.

“Hey,” she whispered, drawing him out of his head. “You okay?”

Curly and Spec were talking back and forth, figuring out the logistics of getting Lock to the beach house.

Jo gazed up at him with concerned eyes. “This will work, Tracker. I won’t let your friend go to jail.”

God, she thought he was worried about Lock when he was planning how many times he’d make her come later. “You are one badass woman. You know that, Jo?” Her face flushed, but the wide smile let him know how much she appreciated the compliment.

“Okay, here’s what I’m thinking. Jinx, soon as we’re done here, you take a truck and a prospect to pick up Lock at the social worker’s office. Jack will ride Lock’s bike back here. You and Lock will go to his house to get some of his shit. Then just make yourselves scarce until you hear from Tracker that he’s got the beach house keys. Meet somewhere neutral to pick up the keys and drop Lock at the house. No motorcycles anywhere near that beach house. You know the cops will be looking all the fuck over for him, and his bike will be a dead giveaway.”

Jo nodded. “Yes, they’ll put out a BOLO.”

“Be On the Look Out,” Tracker said to Olivia, who’d wrinkled her nose in confusion.

“Got it. Brooke and I will head to the grocery store to get him stocked up. I’ll bring it by his house for you, Jinx.”

“Thanks, baby doll,” Jinx said. He blew a kiss at Olivia, which had Spec growling and wrapping his arms around her.

Tracker snickered. Jinx loved to flirt with Liv and get under Spec’s skin. Worked every damn time. The guy did not appreciate eyes on his woman, which only made Jinx do it more. One of the things Tracker valued most about the club was his brothers’ ability to find lightness in the dark times. They could rag on each other, joke, and laugh even under crushing pressure. It kept them moving forward and strengthened their bond.
