Colt watched how upset she was getting.

“Why should I believe you? For all I know, you and your mother could be an act. To gain men’s sympathy so you could take them for all they’re worth.”

Rosalie stared at him and he watched the first tear fall. She swiped at it, and another immediately fell in its place. He hated that he’d done this. He didn’t mean to upset her like this and it pissed him off that he had.

“You’re right, why should you believe us? You don’t know us and the only people you’re used to dealing with are crooks and assholes who are after their own agenda. You don’t know what good, honest people look like.” She took a step toward him. “You can spew all your hatred at me, Colt. I don’t care. You can think the worst of me, because again, I don’t care, but when it comes to my mother, that woman, she’s a fucking saint. You seem to think we’re up to something. Do you even know who Daemon is to her?” Rosalie asked, raising her voice. “Do you?”

“The woman he didn’t marry?” Colt asked, a little fed up that she was yelling at him.

Rosalie smiled. “He’s my mom’s rapist.”

Colt felt like he’d been hit in the gut.

“Yeah, Daemon, the leader of the Evil Fuckers MC, is a rapist. He saw my mom, twenty-one or so years ago, and he wanted her. My mom refused him. She didn’t want anything to do with him, so because she didn’t give in to him, he raped her, and I’m the product of that … moment.” She pressed her lips together. “She went to the cops, but seeing as he paid them, they looked the other way. My mom was pushed away by her family. She was forced to ask him for help. So he picked a house, in a small town, and when he feels like it, he makes her repeat it all over again. So, the next time you think to judge my mother and assume she’s an evil fucker like my dad, think again.”

Rosalie stepped away from him, and Colt was too taken aback to stop her.

“You did what I asked?” Daemon asked.

“Talked to Colt, spoke about Rosalie. It was a piece of cake,” Bug said. “It was easy as well for them to believe me. I looked like the doting big brother bear that I am.”

Daemon smiled.

“You want to tell me why it’s so important for Colt and Rosalie to, like, be together?”

He pressed his fingers together and glanced over the desk at his only son. Daemon had been careful about where he stuck his dick, and certainly what pussy took his seed. Bug had been born before he met Gabby. Many years ago, Gabby had a friend, a wild friend, who liked to dabble in the MC. Daemon had watched her a few times, and he’d knocked her up, wanting to keep her for himself. Only, after he’d knocked her up, she’d brought Gabby around. From the moment he saw Gabby, he’d craved her. He loved her smile, those curves, the light shining in her eyes. He’d wanted a son by Gabby, and had tried, time and time again.

She had several miscarriages, and the last one, when Rosalie was about five years old, had nearly killed her.

He didn’t want to kill Gabby. He loved that woman more than anything. She had proven stubborn in loving him back, but one day she’d see the error of her ways and give them both a chance. It would happen someday.

“Because, once Colt starts to fall for Rosalie, he will take her into the club and accept her with open arms. Rosalie loves her mother and will do whatever it takes to protect her, even to find out every single weakness the club has. Once I know everything, I’m going to make sure Rosalie suffers an accident. Something bad, which means Gabby will have to go to the only person she knows who can fix it. Once I do, I’m going to war with the Satan’s Death Riders MC. The best kind of revenge is the one that’s dished out cold, my son. I’ll sit back, watch, learn, and when the time is right, I will strike.”

Chapter Nine

“Did you know?” Colt asked. “Did you have any fucking idea what he was capable of?”

Colt knew he should have left this line of questioning to church, but he just couldn’t wait.

Sunday morning, while his mother prepared dinner, he had to talk to his father. Only, he’d not been able to control his temper, so Kim had heard everything, and now sat in his father’s office, in their home.

Most days, his parents could be found at the clubhouse. After a run, Warden never kept his wife at the clubhouse on his return. He always took her home, and as a kid, Colt had learned not to disturb them. He had blanked out parts of his childhood because of the way they were.
