He could play the part right now, pretend all was fine, and when he was ready, he’d expose their lies. By this evening or tomorrow morning, it would all come to light.

They were surrounded by their families and the club.

His father gave him a slap on the back, and the celebrations could begin. Two clubs, bound together in a peace treaty, brought together by their son and daughter. Colt couldn’t stand the Evil Fuckers MC being on his turf. Every time he looked at Daemon, he saw Nancy.

That bastard was responsible for the death of his sister. Daemon didn’t pull the trigger. They’d gotten the man that did the dirty work, but to him, that was beside the point. There had always been bloodshed between their two clubs.

Myth came to him, offering him a beer.

“I need something stronger.”

“Your mother’s orders.”

“Why do you always follow her orders?” Colt asked.

“Duh, Warden. It’s a no-brainer.”

Colt smirked. He sipped at his beer. He had to keep a level head tonight. His gaze followed Rosalie. The women surrounded her. He saw Raine kept her distance. He didn’t look at the club whore. She’d become a little too attached to him in the past couple of weeks, which he didn’t like. She continued to service other brothers, and he’d never once told her they were exclusive or together.

“Are you dreading your dick falling off tonight?” Myth asked.

“No.”

“Are you looking forward to getting your nuts off?”

Colt smiled. “I’m looking forward to proving them all fucking wrong.” He finished his beer and handed the empty bottle to Myth.

He made his way across the dance floor, intent on getting some fresh air, but Daemon stepped in his path.

“Colt,” Daemon said.

“Daemon.”

The older man held out his hand for him to take. There was no way he wanted to touch this vermin. He wanted to squish him. His wish was to make the Evil Fuckers MC extinct and to suffer. None of them were good men. He’d heard the horror stories—tales of their exploits, the rumors of rape, kidnapping, murder, and pretty much every other atrocity an MC club could do.

They were a club that instilled fear into everyone around them. Colt couldn’t help but focus on Gabrielle. Now that they were out of the church and within the grounds of the club, with every passing second, she withdrew. Her smiles were forced and the tension in her body was so clear it could be easily snapped.

“You don’t like me, do you?”

“What is there to like?” Colt asked.

Daemon smiled. “I’ve provided you with a wife.”

“You mean one of your sluts?”

Was it possible for his smile to widen even further? Colt didn’t like that.

“You have no problem offering up your blood, do you? Rosalie’s nothing more than a piece of meat to help you and your club.”

“What else are women for?” Daemon asked. “Their only use is their pussy, ass, and mouth, and I don’t mean for talking.”

Colt stared at Daemon and would have loved the opportunity to slam his fist into the man’s face. He held his dying sister because of this man. Daemon didn’t fire the gun, but he gave the order, which he’d denied. He knew that. He claimed that Colt didn’t know what he was talking about. He knew Daemon was responsible, as did his father, but now the clubs were more important than exacting revenge. If he hit Daemon, it would start a war between the two clubs. It would end his marriage, not that he had a problem with that. Warden would be pissed.

Until further notice, he’d been told to act the part he’d been given. War with the Evil Fuckers MC would only hinder the club. Colt had to put the good of the club first.

All he wanted to do was kill Daemon. Instead, he shook his hand and made a promise that one day soon, he would face this man and one of them wouldn’t leave the meeting alive.

Chapter Six

“How are you doing?” Petal asked.

Rosalie looked toward her best friend, who was stunning in the purple bridesmaid’s outfit.

“Fine.”

Petal rolled her eyes. Her hand was grabbed and Petal led her onto the dance floor. There were a few couples enjoying the slow song. She still had to do the dance with Colt, which she dreaded. She and Petal put their arms over each other’s shoulders.

“Do you need me to create a drunken diversion so you can leave?” Petal asked.

Rosalie laughed. “You’re so funny, but no, it is fine. More than fine.”

“You’re fine, totally get it, but when are you going to admit that you’re freaking the fuck out and you’re terrified of what’s going to happen next?”

She stared at her friend and tried to keep the smile on her lips. “You’re not very fair, you know that, right?”

“Come on, Rose, talk to me. You haven’t been the same since the drive over here.”
