“Please, follow me.” She scans her watch, and another door opens for us to follow behind her. Alicia leans away and whispers something, and I realize she’s wearing one of those earbud things that bodyguards use. Oh, man. I’ve been around celebrities my entire life, but this club is another level of boujee.

A door at the end of the hall opens, and a freaking Greek god walks toward us. Holy moly. I’m betting you could cut glass on his chiseled jaw. His jet-black hair is cut short on the sides and a little longer on top with a sprinkling of gray at the temples that gives him quite a distinguished look. Swallowing, I let my eyes roam over his hot body and feel myself heat from the inside out. I’m betting the perfectly tailored dark gray suit he’s wearing was custom-made for his tall, muscular body. And I have no doubt it was more expensive than my car.

Goosebumps break out along my spine as I feel his dark, smoky eyes slowly roaming over my body. He steps close and I look way the heck up into his eyes. “Hello.” He holds out his hand, and I reach out to shake it, but Mr. Greek God shocks the heck out of me when he lifts my hand to his lips for a kiss. As his warm lips move over my skin, my goosebumps get goosebumps.

“Hello.” God, I sound like a cat that just got her tail stepped on. I clear my throat and continue. “I’m Raven Knightley.”

“I know.” Mr. Greek God smiles but doesn’t release my hand. “I’m Roman Sterling, the owner of The Sterling Rope.”

“Good evening, Roman,” Riley speaks, and I suddenly remember the two other people standing by us.

Roman glances over my head at Riley. “Alicia will take you to meet your friends in the bar. I’d like to have a few words with Raven, and then we’ll join you.” His tone doesn’t leave any room for argument, and Sp*nked’s lead singer follows the club hostess without any argument.

Oh, man. I don’t want to be alone with him. I resist the urge to tug on my torture device skirt and give him a smile. “Was there a problem with my contract?” Please don’t kick me out before I’m able to sign the band.

“No.” He leads me down the hall, and I glance around, taking in my first look at the inside of the Sterling Rope. I’m not sure what I expected, but the classy, tasteful, obviously expensive décor throws me for a loop. “I want to get to know you a little bit.”

“Do you get to know all the visitors?” I don’t know why, but I want to hear him say I’m special.

He stops at a set of dark, solid wood doors and scans his watch. Darn. These guys definitely don’t mess around with security. “I completely investigate everyone who walks through the door, but I don’t usually personally greet everyone who comes to the club.” He leads me into the opulent room and points at one of the overstuffed burgundy leather chairs in front of the floor-to-ceiling fireplace. “Have a seat.” He walks over to the sidebar and glances over his shoulder at me. “Cabernet Sauvignon?”

“How do you know my favorite wine?” I feel like I’ve stepped into the Twilight Zone.

“I know everything there is to know about you.” His words should scare me, but they have the opposite effect. My girly parts melt while my heart kicks into overdrive.

I need to get control of this situation and concentrate on my job, not Mr. Greek God. “Should I be impressed or scared?”

“Impressed.” He smiles and hands me a glass of wine. “I know what the report told me about you, but now I want you to tell me everything else.”

“Everything?” I swallow. I’m in so far over my head right now.

“I plan to know you inside and out by the end of the night.” Okay. Things are really moving way too fast. I’m used to dealing with temperamental, spoiled artists intent on having things done their own way, but this is something totally different.

“I’m not here to get to know you. I’m here to conduct business with Sp*nked.” Wow, that sentence sounds so freaking wrong.

He stares at me silently for a few minutes, and I have to resist the urge to squirm like a bug under a microscope. “Why don’t we start over?” His unexpected question catches me off guard. “We can discuss your visit to my club, and then you can meet with your potential clients.”

Chapter 4

Roman

I know I’m moving at warp speed, but I can’t stop myself. When I saw her picture, the spitfire blew my mind. I could tell by the stubborn set to her chin that she would be a handful. Then I met her in person and realized how powerful the hold she has over me already is. I’ll move heaven and earth to keep her. Forever. This girl walked into my club and stole my goddamn heart right out of my chest.
